How to Find the Hunter Vault in Enshrouded and Solve Its Puzzle

NPCs are a major part of progression in Enshrouded. They unlock recipes, hand out quests, and generally make life in Embervale less like a long camping trip with monsters. The Hunter, Athalan Skree, is one of the early survivors worth finding quickly, especially if you want more crafting options back at base.

Hunter Ancient Vault Location

The Hunter is inside the Ancient Vault east of Braelyn Bridge. You can reach the area fairly early, but bringing the Grappling Hook makes the route much smoother. Several parts of the vault are built around gaps and high anchor points, so arriving without it turns a simple rescue into needless gymnastics.

Hunter Vault Walkthrough

The Hunter Vault is easier than some other survivor vaults, but it still has traps that can punish careless sprinting.

Enter the Ancient Vault and move past the two rows of lightning traps. Continue up the short staircase until you reach a gap.

Look up toward the ceiling above the pit. There is a Grappling Hook anchor point you can latch onto to cross safely.

After landing, climb either staircase to reach the second floor. Open the large central door to enter the Hunter's chamber.

Approach the pod and awaken Athalan Skree. Once she has been rescued, you can summon the Hunter at your base with the Summoning Staff. If you are setting up a shared world or dedicated server through HolyHosting, this is one of those early unlocks everyone will appreciate.

Hunter Vault Puzzle Solution

There is also an optional locked room in the vault. If you turn left after climbing the first staircase, you will find the door. To open it, activate three symbols hidden around the Ancient Vault.

The first symbol is on a pillar opposite the locked door. Shoot it with a bow to activate it.

From there, walk toward the first symbol and enter the nearby small room. Look at the right-hand wall to find the second symbol.

The third symbol is trickier. Return to the top of the first staircase and look behind you. The symbol sits on a ledge above the main entrance, with a high Grappling Hook anchor on the ceiling.

Climb onto the brazier on the right side of the stairs. Perform a running jump, deploy your glider, and quickly use the Grappling Hook when the prompt appears. While swinging, hold left to grab the climbable wall, then climb right onto the ledge and activate the final symbol.

Drop back down carefully, watching for fall damage and the lightning traps. Return to the locked room to claim the chest inside.

The chest reward is random. Some players may find weapons, while others may receive spell charges. Either way, it is free loot after a short puzzle, which is usually the best kind of loot.
