How to Find and Tame Capybaras in Enshrouded

Capybaras are one of the friendlier additions from Enshrouded's Wake of the Water Update. Cats, dogs, and goats already make a base feel less empty, but a giant chill rodent has its own appeal. To bring one home, you can either complete its rescue quest or use the standard taming system with Capybara Bait.

Where to Find a Capybara in Enshrouded

Capybaras appear in the Veilwater Basin biome. From the Albaneve Summits Ancient Spire, head west toward the region. Reaching it still takes some effort, since the route involves climbing a mountain before gliding down into Veilwater Basin.

Once you arrive, continue west until you reach the Capybara Oasis. Giant rodents will be attacking the Capybaras there, so clear them out with whatever build, spells, weapons, or offensive tricks you prefer.

After the fight, go to the large waterfall nearby. At its base is a dead Capybara. Loot the remains to receive Capybara Bristles and Drak Teeth, which starts the quest Capybara Search and Rescue.

The quest sends you after a Capybara captured by Draks. Travel southwest from Capybara Oasis to a Drak Camp, and be ready for Level 39 enemies. Kill the largest Drak on the ground floor to complete the objective, but do not leave immediately. Loot that Drak to find a Baby Capybara, then return to your base and summon it.

How to Tame a Wild Capybara

To use the normal taming route, first unlock the Farmer NPC, Emily Fray. Wake her at the Ancient Vault - Farmer, north of the Springlands Ancient Spire fast travel point. After summoning her, complete Animal Farming to learn animal husbandry by taming a goat.

Next, accept the Capybara quest from the Farmer and craft Capybara Bait with these materials:

• 2x Algae
• 2x Paper Reed
• 1x Sugar Cane

Algae can be found in Veilwater Basin. Sugar Cane is farmed in the Nomad Highlands, while Paper Reeds appear across several areas of Embervale.

With bait ready, return to Veilwater Basin and look for a wild Capybara. Then follow this taming loop:

1. Throw Capybara Bait on the ground.
2. Wait for the Capybara to walk over and eat.
3. Approach slowly when a yellow heart flashes above it.
4. Pet the Capybara when the prompt appears.
5. Back away when the heart turns red.
6. Return when the yellow heart appears again and pet it once more.
7. Add the Capybara to your inventory when prompted.

Taming a Capybara also unlocks the Capybara Feeder recipe. Craft it at the Farmer with 2x Wood Logs and 2x Nails. To keep your new pet fed, make Capybara Food from 2x Paper Reed and 3x Algae.
