Minecraft creators do a lot more than add new blocks and call it a day. The best ones reshape how players explore, build, fight, and run servers with friends. GamerPotion, also known as Rick, is one of those creators, with Minecraft mods, modpacks, resource packs, datapacks, and YouTube tutorials across their work.
This interview covers GamerPotion's background, current projects, server advice, and thoughts on using HolyHosting for Minecraft communities.

Hey! :) I'm Rick, also known as GamerPotion. I work in I.T. as an applications specialist and have always loved gaming. I first got into content creation by modding the forum package phpBB. I later moved on to creating WordPress themes and was an approved themes creator. It was during the Covid lockdown when I started my own YouTube gaming channel and would make Minecraft tutorial videos. From there, I moved on to creating modpacks and, eventually, mods & resource packs for Minecraft.
I create Minecraft modpacks, mods, resource packs, and datapacks. I am most passionate about my modpacks, DarkRPG(Fabric & Forge versions), and Vagrant Saga. I am also currently working on a brand new and exciting modpack called Cookiemon, which is focused on Cobblemon, building, and RPG elements.
I first discovered HolyHosting when I wanted to create a server for one of my Minecraft Modpacks. At the time, I had the option of either going with HolyHosting or Apex Hosting, and there was something special about HolyHosting that lured me towards them. I love the design of HolyHosting and the insane amount of options they provide. There are so many packages to choose from on their site. I also love the one-click modpack install feature that they provide. Another thing that attracted me to HolyHosting is their amazing and friendly staff members. Every time I had a query, it was answered in a very friendly way, and all my issues were resolved in a timely manner. My gaming experience has improved a lot after using HolyHosting. I am now able to use a server for each one of my modpacks, play with lots of friends online, and grow my gaming community.
If someone is looking to start their own gaming server, the first thing I would advise is to know their target audience and amount of players they want to play with. This will help them choose the correct package for their server. I would also recommend users watch online videos on how to create and maintain a server. HolyHosting's YouTube channel has some great videos that teach you all the features of server maintenance. After deciding on the number of players, users should choose if they want to offer their players a modpack to play, a vanilla environment, or play with plugins. Again, HolyHosting has all this covered in their control panel (one-click installs FTW!). Creating an online community for your server, such as using Discord, is a great way to keep your players engaged and get lots of feedback.
I am currently working on a new RPG Cobblemon Minecraft modpack called Cookiemon. I am excited to try a new mod in this mudpack that features Pokemon as well as give users a unique RPG experience. I also aim to release new videos this year on my YouTube channel. Stay tuned!
These days, you can find me online on the Official GamerPotion discord, where I will be most active.
Thanks to GamerPotion for sharing their story and practical advice for Minecraft server owners. For players interested in modded Minecraft, Cookiemon, DarkRPG, Vagrant Saga, or resource packs, GamerPotion's project pages and Discord are the best places to keep up with new releases.
