How to check if a mod is client-side or server-side

Hi! In this guide we’ll explain how to check whether the mod you downloaded is designed for the client, the server, or both. Thanks to a tool we provide, this is very easy to do.
Mod Side Checker
The first thing you need to do is open the following link: https://modchecker.holy.gg/ Here, you’ll be able to see a simple classification that shows which environment each mod is made for.

To use it, simply upload the mod’s .jar file using the button shown in the image.
Once you’ve uploaded the mod you want to check, click on “Verify”!

When the mod finishes uploading, a window like the one in the image will appear. There, you’ll see the mod’s name, its URL, and the side it is made for. In this example, it’s a client-side mod, which means that uploading it to the server’s mod folder will cause errors and incompatibilities.

For example, if we upload a mod that is labeled “server-side,” it means it only needs to be installed in the server’s mods folder. Players do not need to download or install it in their own .minecraft folder.

That’s it! It’s that easy to check where your mods can be used. Remember that some mods are made for both sides — client and server.
