Enshrouded Wake of the Water Update 7 Release Date and Features

Enshrouded·November 10, 2025·13 min read

Gamescom 2025 brought several game announcements, and Enshrouded Update 7 was one of the notable survival RPG reveals. Officially named Wake of the Water, the patch focuses on water exploration, a new biome, and several combat and progression changes.

Wake of the Water Release Date and Trailer

Wake of the Water was first planned for October 2025. An October 24 devblog later moved the release date to November 10 so the team could polish the new water-focused systems. Water physics are rarely the part of development that says, “Sure, no problem.”

New Region: Veilwater Basin

The update adds the Veilwater Basin, a tropical water biome first teased in the 2025 roadmap. Once the patch is live, players can swim and dive immediately without completing extra quests or unlock requirements.

Veilwater Basin is built for high-level Flameborn. It includes ancient ruins, wide lakes, rivers, tropical environments, and new threats such as the hateful Drak enemies found in the region’s forests.

The biome also introduces new resources, recipes, building materials, rewards, quests, farm animals, and NPCs.

Swimming and Diving

The teaser trailer showed a Flameborn diving into water in the new region. Underwater exploration works somewhat like time spent in the Shroud, meaning players should look for equipment or food that extends the amount of time they can safely stay below the surface.

Combat is not possible while submerged, so swimming is more about movement, routing, and avoiding danger than fighting through it.

Fishing

Fishing arrives as a new way to gather cooking ingredients and crafting materials. Luck affects what players catch. Common fish can be caught in open water with any bait, while better gear and specific fishing spots improve the chance of stronger catches.

Level Cap, Greatswords, and Gear

Wake of the Water raises the maximum player level to 45. Enemies and chests can also drop stronger versions of existing weapons, and new armor can be crafted from materials found in the new biome.

The update also introduces greatswords as a new weapon type. These weapons can appear as early as the first region, so players do not have to wait until late game to try the heavier combat style.

Weapon Overhaul

Update 7 reviews weapons for better consistency across names, visuals, themes, and stats. For example, Ice-Coated Daggers previously dealt cut and pierce damage, but after the update they deal pierce and ice damage. Upgrading them also adds extra ice damage perks.

Weapon durability has been increased and now scales with item level and rarity. Existing weapons keep their old stats after the update, while new drops follow the revised rules. Armor, rings, and food items also received balance changes.

The patch also lets players craft any previously unlocked Lore weapon at any stage of progression. If a weapon like the Wailing Blade becomes underleveled, players can craft a higher-level version instead of waiting on lucky drops. Every weapon type gains craftable Lore options.

New weapons are also added, including the Fell Thunderbrute Greatsword and Scavenger’s Acid Cleaver. Their drop rates scale with enemy level and rarity.

Chest Loot Exploit Removed

Update 7 removes the chest reload exploit commonly used to reroll loot. Chests now save their looted state, preventing players from restarting servers or reloading saves to chase a specific item. Chest contents are still planned to respawn as originally intended.

Early Mage Support

Early mage progression gets help through the new Fire Bolt spell. It is a quick-casting, single-target spell with low crafting requirements, giving magic-focused players an earlier offensive option than before.

Regeneration Balance

Before Update 7, players could often retreat from combat and recover health, stamina, and mana too easily. Wake of the Water reduces regeneration rates across those resources, making fights more deliberate and making resource management matter more during longer encounters.
