Enshrouded Update 6: Thralls of Twilight sends players deeper into the Shroud with new reasons to explore, new ways to get hurt, and new rewards for surviving the trouble. The patch also refreshes visuals, expands nighttime gameplay, adds weapon customization, and improves many technical systems across Embervale.

Thralls of Twilight focuses heavily on the Shroud. Its fog, landscapes, lighting, and points of interest were reworked so Shrouded areas feel more distinct from the world above. The update also adds more than 100 new points of interest, including hidden locations, dangerous encounters, and refreshed older sites.
Combat and progression also changed. Some enemies can now apply curses or diseases, and players can craft cures from new resources. Powerful enemies in the Shroud can drop Weapon Gems, which can be socketed into eligible high-rarity weapons at Gem Forges found deep in Shrouded locations.
Nighttime is more active too. Scavenger patrols roam roads after dark, groups of Fell can spread the Shroud above ground for a time, and Night Temples open only from dusk until dawn. Sleeping through the night is still possible, but the update makes staying awake more tempting.

Several changes in Update 6 affect how players plan longer sessions. The new Shroud-only materials are not just collectibles for one-off recipes. They are tied into armor, consumables, spell options, repair tools, and even older progression recipes such as Flame Altar enhancement. That means players who previously treated the Shroud as a place to enter only when required now have stronger reasons to build routes through it.
The material item level display is also useful for inventory decisions. Since resource value now communicates progression more clearly, players can decide what to keep when backpack space becomes limited. Combined with backpack expansions gaining an extra row, gathering runs should feel less punishing, though existing players need to recraft and equip those expansions to receive the added space.
Legendary Runes also shift late-game goals. Elite and boss enemies now matter beyond ordinary loot because their drops support higher-tier legendary weapon perks. This gives combat-focused players a more direct reason to hunt dangerous targets instead of waiting for random rewards.
Nighttime changes are more than a visual adjustment. Scavenger patrols can carry rare resources and items, while groups of Fell create temporary danger above ground by spreading Shroud influence. Night-blooming plants add another layer to route planning because some resources only appear after dark and are needed for stronger foods and potions.
Night Temples are the biggest night-exclusive addition. They remain sealed during the day, then open from dusk until dawn. Inside, players can expect new architecture, traps, puzzles, and exclusive rewards. The update effectively turns night into a separate activity window rather than downtime between daytime resource runs.
The base-building changes are partly cosmetic and partly practical. New blocks, roof pieces, terrain materials, props, kitchen clutter, and musical instrument displays expand decoration options. The coloring station adds a stronger personalization layer by letting players create color palettes and apply tints to armor and outfits.
Survivors also behave more convincingly around player bases. The update reduces odd repeated pathing between the same points of interest and adds more animations, making settlements feel less static. Farm animals received movement fixes as well, including extra safeguards to stop them from wandering away from bases. Anyone who has had livestock walk off like it suddenly remembered an appointment will appreciate that.
The Flame Altar fallback system is important for builders. If a base is placed over a location containing progress-relevant unique items or quest rewards, those items can be claimed from that Flame Altar once. This reduces the chance that creative base placement blocks progression.
Update 6 makes several combat interactions cleaner. Faster wand projectiles improve hit consistency against moving targets, while clearer wand categories make weapon behavior easier to understand. Faster casting on selected spells helps magic builds feel more responsive, and ranged input buffering reduces accidental extra shots during bow, wand, or staff use.
Mobility and stamina balance also changed. Jump attacks now cost more stamina, while evasion costs less. That discourages spamming one powerful option and rewards more frequent dodging. Enemy stagger behavior, hit reactions, parry windows, and movement logic were all adjusted to make fights more readable.
Disease and curse effects add pressure to combat preparation. Since world settings can adjust or disable the chance for curses, server owners and solo players can tune how punishing these new mechanics feel. For dedicated groups, that setting is worth checking before starting a long campaign after the update.
Many interface changes reduce friction rather than adding flashy systems. Item comparison in the backpack and equipment menus makes gear decisions faster. Damage type separation and condensed perk details make item info easier to scan. The weapon upgrade menu now communicates costs more clearly, and enemy health bars can show buffs, debuffs, and states.
The map also became more useful. Fast travel destinations and survivor locations can be viewed more easily, quest areas now show relative difficulty through color, and the compass better communicates whether an objective is above or below the player. These are small changes individually, but together they make exploration and quest routing less messy.
Server browsing received practical improvements too. Player-hosted games and dedicated servers are separated for more accurate searches, the search-by-IP widget shows required port information, and direct joining is supported from the result. Very long server names no longer overlap player count details.
- A sound occlusion system with sound path tracing was added for a more natural soundscape.
- Reverb issues were fixed.
- Ambient sound selection was improved across many locations.
