Enshrouded Update 4 was positioned as one of the game’s biggest patches, bringing new survival pressure, new creatures, and a fresh mountain region to explore. For players who wanted more reasons to leave a comfortable base, this update provided several. Comfort is overrated, apparently.

Enshrouded Update 4 Release Date and Features

Keen Games teased Update 4 as the largest patch in Enshrouded’s history at the time. Its headline additions included a new biome, a weather system, pets, more immersive NPCs, and a higher level cap.

Release Date

On October 31, the developer shared a short clip on social media confirming the release date. The 23-second video showed an in-game character gliding across the new map before revealing November 5, 2024 as the launch date for Update 4.

Weather System

Update 4 added a new weather system based on player feedback. Conditions such as cold rain, freezing snow, dense fog, and severe storms changed how players approached exploration and base building.

Fog could reduce visibility, snow made warmth more important, and storms could complicate construction. Surviving harsh weather meant adapting bases, rebuilding exposed structures, and wearing clothing suited to the current conditions.

Tameable Creatures and NPC Improvements

Tameable creatures were another major addition. Players could care for pets and farm animals, adding friendlier life to bases and expanding the day-to-day survival loop. Details were limited before launch, but farm animals were expected to support practical tasks while pets added more personality to settlements.

NPCs also became more present around bases, improving the sense that a settlement was occupied instead of being a crafting menu with walls.

New Mountain Biome and Higher Level Cap

The biggest addition was a new snow-covered biome in the northern mountains. This region brought fresh quests, new resources, additional materials, and more dangerous encounters.

The area was not aimed at brand-new characters, but the update also raised the level cap by ten levels. That gave players more room to improve builds, unlock items, and prepare for the new threats waiting in the mountains.
