Resin is one of the first useful materials players should stockpile in Enshrouded. It supports early lighting, basic magical gear, armor pieces, and several spell recipes, so ignoring it usually means bumping into the same tree later anyway.

Resin comes from chopping trees. You can technically start collecting it early, but making a basic Axe first makes the process much smoother.
Craft the Axe by hand with:
Twigs come from bushes, Stone can be picked up from the ground, and String is crafted from Plant Fibers. New players can usually gather all three within the opening hour.

Once the Axe is ready, strike trees with it. Wood Logs are the most common result, but Resin drops regularly while chopping. Expect roughly one or two Resin from many trees before they fall.

Resin appears in several early and mid-game recipes. Players going into magic can use it to craft a Staff, a ranged weapon made by hand with 1x Bones and 2x Resin.
It also helps with base lighting. A Standing Torch requires 4x Resin, 2x Wood Logs, and 2x Torn Cloth.
Other Resin recipes include:
If you are farming Resin with friends, a dedicated Enshrouded server from HolyHosting can keep the world available while everyone works through their own gathering routes.
