Enshrouded gives builders plenty of room to reshape Embervale, and the Rake is one of the earliest tools that makes that possible. It is also known as the Landscape Smoothing Tool, which sounds fancy for something that mostly tells dirt to behave.

Most new Flameborn can unlock the Rake early, usually around Level 2. The key requirements are simple: craft a Workbench and awaken the Blacksmith. After that, open the Workbench crafting menu and make the Rake with:
Those materials are basic starter resources, so the tool should be available before large base-building projects begin.
Equip the Rake and use the action button, which is left mouse click by default, to smooth nearby terrain. The tool levels the ground based on the surrounding surface. If you use it near a raised mound, the nearby area can rise to match it. If you use it around flatter terrain, it helps clean up uneven ground for paths, courtyards, farms, or cleaner base foundations.
During Early Access, some players ran into a bug where the Rake recipe disappeared from the Workbench menu. That caused a bigger problem later because the Scrappy Rake recipe requires the basic Rake as one of its ingredients. Players who reached Level 5 without crafting the standard Rake could end up locked out of making it normally.
Before an official fix arrived, players shared a couple of workarounds in this Reddit thread.
The first workaround was to create a new character, awaken, fast-travel to the existing base, and check the Workbench. In many cases, the Rake recipe appeared for that fresh character.
If that failed, another option was joining a multiplayer server where the Workbench still had the Rake recipe unlocked. Craft the Rake there, keep it in your inventory, then return to your own world.
Patch #1 v0.7.0.1 fixed this issue, so players who meet the requirements should now be able to access the Rake recipe normally.
