Enshrouded Pact of the Flame Update 5: New Social Tools, Building Features, and More

Enshrouded·January 28, 2025·7 min read

Enshrouded's fifth content update, Pact of the Flame, arrived as part of the game's one-year milestone. It is not as large as Souls of the Frozen Frontier, but it adds several long-requested social, building, and gameplay improvements.

Enshrouded Update 5: Pact of the Flame Highlights

Pact of the Flame focuses on tools that make bases more expressive and multiplayer sessions easier to manage. If your group spends half its time building and the other half asking where everyone went, this update helps both problems.

Social Features

Three major communication features were added:

  • Text Chat: Players can now talk to others on a server through text chat. Hosts and server administrators can toggle the feature.
  • Voice Chat: In-game voice chat is available in global or proximity-based forms, with hosts and server administrators controlling how it is used.
  • Emotes: Players can use an emote wheel instead of typing or speaking. Open it with X on keyboard or the down button on a controller d-pad.

Building Improvements

First-Person Building Camera

Players can now switch to a first-person camera while building. This toggle is available when using a Construction Hammer, placing a prop, or equipping one of the new building tools. It should make precise placement much easier.

Full Prop Rotation

Props can now be rotated across all axes. Furniture is still limited to vertical-axis rotation, but other decorations can be angled more freely for custom builds.

Food, Drinks, and Potions as Props

New decorative props include plates, boards, coasters, and similar items that help dining rooms and kitchens look lived in. These can be crafted through the Farmer NPC once Wood Planks are unlocked.

Overgrowth Editing and Building Block Decay

The new Overgrowth tool lets players add or remove materials such as ivy around the outside of a home. It is crafted at the Farmer NPC.

Another new tool, crafted at the Collector NPC, gives building blocks a worn or slightly ruined look. This does not affect stability, so your stylishly damaged wall is only pretending to be a problem.

Gameplay Improvements

Pact of the Flame also includes several feedback-driven changes:

  • Skills can now be reset individually within the skill tree.
  • More enemies and projectiles now have visual parry indicators.
  • The Dune Armadillo is a new tamable farming animal found in the Kindlewastes.
  • Additional bug fixes and glitch corrections were included throughout the update.
