Enshrouded Fishing Guide: Rods, Bait, Hotspots, and Fish Types

The Wake of the Water Update gives Enshrouded players a reason to stare at ripples instead of immediately charging toward danger. Fishing adds rods, bait, hotspots, and fish that can support survival or crafting. Here is how the system works.

How to Craft a Fishing Rod and Catch Fish

A Fishing Rod is required before you can catch fish. The first option is the Simple Fishing Rod, crafted from the inventory's Crafting tab with these materials:

• 2x Twigs
• 2x Metal Scraps
• 1x String

Fishing Rods can also be crafted at the Hunter NPC. Better rods become available after completing quests. For example, once unlocked, the Improved Fishing Rod can be crafted at the Hunter with 2x Iron Bars, 1x Palm Wood Logs, 1x String, and 1x Icy Brook.

After crafting a rod, search for fishing hotspots. These spots are marked by visible fish activity in the water, such as ripples and waves. Stand near the shore, equip the Fishing Rod, and choose your bait.

On PC, hold the left mouse button to cast. The longer you hold it, the farther the line travels. Once a fish bites, press the left mouse button to reel it in. After catching it, press E to add it to your inventory or right-click to release it.

How to Get Fishing Bait

As of Update #7, Wake of the Water, Enshrouded has two bait categories: Wild Bait and Crafted Bait. Wild Bait is found while exploring, while Crafted Bait is made by the player. Fishing bait can also be crafted through the Fisher NPC, Captain Melville Fontane.

Wild Bait

• Fire Fly: Found in the Springlands at night. Increases the chance of catching common fish.
• Moth: Found in Revelwood at night. Increases the chance of catching uncommon fish.
• Grasshopper: Found in the Nomad Highlands. Increases the chance of catching uncommon fish.
• Scarab: Found in the Kindlewastes. Increases the chance of catching rare fish.
• Pillbug: Found in the Albaneve Summits. Increases the chance of catching rare fish.
• Frog: Found in Veilwater Basin. Increases the chance of catching epic fish.

Crafted Bait

• Simple Fishing Bait: Low chance of catching common fish.
• Common Fishing Bait: Better chance of catching common fish than Simple Fishing Bait.
• Uncommon Fishing Bait: Improves the chance of catching uncommon fish.
• Rare Fishing Bait: Improves the chance of catching rare fish.
• Epic Fishing Bait: Improves the chance of catching epic fish.

Fish Types in Enshrouded

Fish help with survival, and some are used as crafting ingredients for gear. They are grouped by rarity:

• Common Fish: Lakehopper, Shimmerfin, and Silverback. Common fish can generally appear in any body of water, but they are more often caught in the Springlands.
• Uncommon Fish: Stripetail, Sunscale, and Whiskerfin. Uncommon fish can generally appear in any body of water, but they are more often caught in Revelwood and the Nomad Highlands.
• Rare Fish: Emberfin, Shadowtail, Waveleaper, and Crimsonback. Rare fish can generally appear in any body of water, but they are more often caught in the Kindlewastes and Albaneve Summits.
• Epic Fish: Shockfin, Thornridge, and Yellowfin. Epic fish can generally appear in any body of water, but they are more often caught in Veilwater Basin. Shockfin is used for Electric Nerve, Thornridge is used for Fish Bones, and Yellowfin is used for Fish Teeth.
