The Souls of the Frozen Frontier update added one of Enshrouded's most requested features: animal taming. Thanks to the Frozen Frontier update, Flameborn can now bring goats, cats, dogs, and other animals back to base instead of simply admiring them from a suspicious distance.
Animal taming starts with Emily the Farmer. She provides the early animal farming setup and introduces the systems you need before you can keep creatures at your base.
Before heading into Embervale with bait in hand, craft and place these essentials:
Food and bait are separate requirements. The bait is used during taming, while the food goes in the feeder once the animal lives at your base. Do not skip that setup step, because animals only begin acting like farm residents after their basic needs are covered. Emily's Animal Farming quest teaches the basics by having you prepare bait and food for your first goats, which are intentionally the easiest starter animals.

Emily's quest explains the core process, but the important part is patience. Sneak toward the animal, throw bait near it, then wait for it to start eating. While it is distracted, slowly approach and pet it to fill the heart icons beneath its health bar. Fill every required heart, and the animal becomes yours. You can then place it in your inventory and bring it back to base.
Animals are skittish. If a ? icon appears above the animal, stop moving. If you keep advancing, it may flee. When that happens, a ! icon appears and one filled heart can empty, which is the game's polite way of telling you to calm down.
Breaking line of sight is a useful trick. If the ? icon appears, move behind cover until the animal relaxes and returns to eating the bait. Also clear nearby hostile mobs before taming. Wolves and other threats can scare or kill the target, which is not ideal animal husbandry.
Goats are the first target in Emily's quest and are easier than most animals because they only require one heart. Other animals can require two or three hearts, so bring extra bait and do not rush. That difference makes goats the practical tutorial animal before you try fussier targets.
The Souls of the Frozen Frontier update includes eight tameable animals:
Cats and dogs have their own quest requirements before you can find and tame them. For cats, start Cat Search from Balthazar the Alchemist. For dogs, start Dog Search from Althalan Skree the Hunter.
Both quests ask you to craft bait, visit specific locations, and tame your first pet, so treat them as separate unlock paths rather than ordinary livestock hunts. Unlike farm animals, cats and dogs do not produce resources while staying at your base. Instead, petting either one grants the Paw's Touch buff for thirty minutes, adding +25 health. On a shared HolyHosting server, that small buff is a nice excuse for everyone to pet the dog before leaving base.

After taming animals, return them to your base and place them near the setup you prepared. If their needs are met, they will eventually produce resources.
Breeding requires two animals of the same species. You also need one bed for each parent and a third bed for the baby. After enough in-game time passes, a baby animal can appear on the farm. Baby animals can later be upgraded into adults for more resource production.
Tamed animals can produce the following items after enough time passes:
Yak Raw Wool is especially useful. With an Improved Spinning Wheel, Raw Wool can be turned into Wool, which helps craft Warm Padding for surviving Embervale's colder regions.
