Leather in 7 Days to Die: Farming Methods and Full Crafting Recipe List

Leather sits near the top of the priority list for any 7 Days to Die survivor. The material shows up in armor, vehicles, melee weapons, ranged gear, and even basic furniture, which means most players end up stockpiling it during the first few in-game weeks. The good news: Navezgane has plenty of sources once you know where to look.

Two Reliable Ways to Farm Leather

There are two main paths to a healthy Leather stash: hunting wildlife and scrapping structures. Both work, and most survivors mix them depending on what is closer.

Hunting wildlife

Track down and kill the wildlife the wasteland still has on offer. The most consistent providers are:

  • Bears
  • Boars
  • Rabbits
  • Stags

After the kill, harvest the carcass with a sharp tool such as an Axe, Machete, Bone Knife, or Hunting Knife. Zombie animal variants drop Leather too, so do not skip them just because they look unappetizing.

Scrapping objects

If hunting feels slow, point a Wrench (or any tool that scraps blocks) at certain pieces of furniture and vehicles. The reliable sources include:

  • Office Chairs
  • Leather Couches
  • Sedans
  • Forges

Random containers like clothes piles can also drop the material, which makes abandoned offices and city blocks surprisingly good Leather farms.

What Leather Is Used For

As of 7 Days to Die Version 1.4, 59 crafting recipes call for Leather as an ingredient. Expect that number to grow with Version 2.0 and future patches. The full list is grouped below by category so the recipe you actually need is easier to spot.
