Finding Beakers in 7 Days to Die: Loot Spots and Recipes That Need One

7 Days to Die·July 23, 2024·9 min read

Antibiotics are not optional gear in Navezgane. Infection ticks down faster than you expect, and the cabinet behind the gas station never has what you want. Before you can brew your own medicine, you need a Beaker, and the game does not let you craft one. You have to find it.

Where Beakers Spawn

Beakers are loot-only. No workbench in the world will produce one for you, so the search is the entire mechanic.

The most consistent place to check is any Pop-N-Pills location. These pharmacy POIs are built around medical loot, and Beakers show up in their containers more often than anywhere else. Outside of pharmacies, the spots that tend to drop them are:

  • Medicine cabinets in residential bathrooms
  • Garage shelving and tool crates
  • Supply crates inside larger settlements
  • Hospital and clinic rooms in town POIs

Nurse zombies occasionally carry one as well. Worth the swing if you spot one shuffling around a medical building.

What a Beaker Actually Builds

The Beaker has two main jobs. It crafts the Chemistry Station, and it sits at the Campfire as a tool for specific recipes. Used as a tool, it is not consumed, which is the part most newer players miss.

Crafting the Chemistry Station

Unlock the recipe by reading the Forge Ahead magazine. At the Workbench, you will need:

  • 1x Beaker
  • 100x Forged Iron
  • 3x Cooking Pot
  • 30x Short Iron Pipe
  • 5x Bottle of Acid

Antibiotics

Read the Medical Journal magazine first. Then at the Campfire, with a Beaker assigned as a tool, combine:

  • 4x Old Sham Sandwich
  • 3x Nitrate Powder
  • 1x Clean Water

Other Campfire Recipes

The same Beaker tool also unlocks two side products at the Campfire:

  • Grain Alcohol from 3x Corn Meal
  • Bio Fuel from 1x Animal Fat

Gas Can crafting used to require a Beaker as well, but that recipe was removed when Alpha 7.6 shipped, so ignore that step in older guides.

Quick Tips

  • Once you find your first Beaker, set up the Chemistry Station right away. It opens Antibiotic batching at higher volumes.
  • Mark Pop-N-Pills POIs on your map. On longer runs, looping through known pharmacy spawns is the closest thing to a reliable Beaker farm the game offers.
  • A single Beaker is enough for the toolside recipes. Keep one in storage and try to find a second for the Chemistry Station build.
