Valheim throws plenty of creatures at you, from shambling Draugr to roaring Dragons, but few feel as unsettling as the Abomination. This walking pile of bark and tendrils looks like the swamp itself decided to fight back. The good news is that once you know what hurts it and where it grows, it goes down faster than expected.

You will only run into the Abomination inside the Swamp biome. Until you get close, it sits perfectly still and looks like an ordinary, oversized tree stump. The disguise is convincing, which is part of the appeal and most of the problem.
The moment you wander into range, that stump unfolds. Long, spidery limbs swing out, the bulk of the body rises up, and what was scenery a second ago is now bearing down on you. Unless you are gearing up for a proper fight, treat suspicious stumps with caution and give them a wide berth.

The Abomination is huge, but its weak points are easy to remember. The body is mostly wood, so fire is your single best tool. Torches, fire arrows, and any flame source you can carry will eat through its health bar quickly.
Slashing weapons also perform well. Axes, knives, and swords all chew into it at a respectable pace. What does not work is everything else. The Abomination shrugs off blunt and piercing damage, so clubs and ordinary arrows are mostly wasted swings. It is also fully immune to Frost, Poison, and Spirit damage. If your loadout is built around any of those, retreat and come back equipped properly.
A useful trick: stick close to the core of its body. The wide, sweeping limb attacks tend to whiff at point blank range, and that alone saves a lot of healing items. Even so, wear something that can take a hit. Carapace Armor or anything in that defense tier is a sensible pick.
Around the 25% health mark the Abomination panics and tries to flee. It is not built for sprinting, so chasing it down is rarely a problem. Just keep swinging.
Heads up: this fight gets much messier with company. Sweep the surrounding swamp for Draugr, leeches, and other neighbors before waking the stump, otherwise you will be juggling threats from every direction.

The Abomination itself leaves behind three items: Guck, Root, and the Abomination Trophy. Those are the headline rewards.
The hidden bonus is collateral damage. Its swings frequently shatter nearby trees and props, which means after the fight you can usually walk away with a tidy stack of wood and other scattered odds and ends. A respectable haul for something that, until ten seconds ago, looked like part of the landscape.
