The Mounts of Mayhem event introduced a limited-time Zombie Horse Cape, but earning it required completing a specific Bedrock Edition survival challenge. The task sounds simple, though spear combat may have other opinions.

From December 12, 2025, at 8:00 AM PT, through December 15, 2025, at 10:00 AM PT, players could earn the Zombie Horse Cape by defeating five mobs with a spear in Bedrock Edition survival mode.
A second community goal ran during the same event. If players collectively spawned more than 75 million zombie horses before the event ended, Mojang would award a zombie horse onesie creator item for Bedrock Edition and a zombie horse onesie skin for Java Edition.
Reward delivery could take up to thirty days after completing the challenge.
Participation in this challenge is not required to claim the onesie reward.

The Zombie Horse Cape challenge had to be completed in Bedrock Edition. However, earning it for Bedrock Edition also unlocked it for the Java Edition account connected to the same Microsoft account.
Mojang has previously offered alternate cape reward methods, such as watch quests, but that did not appear to be available for this event. It was not clear whether this was a one-time choice or a new direction for future cape rewards. If Mojang added another method, it would need to be listed separately.
