Palworld is one of the few creature-collecting games where firearms are the answer to most problems. The catch is that ammunition runs out fast, and every bullet traces back to a single resource: Sulfur. This guide covers where to find it, which Pals speed up gathering, and every recipe that quietly drains your stockpile.

Sulfur appears as oversized yellow boulders scattered across the map's drier, hotter regions. If you only need a handful to get started, the small desert near the center of the map is the easiest farm. It's accessible from the early game and dense enough to keep you stocked through your first round of firearms.

A few more reliable spots once you outgrow the starter desert:
Bringing a Pal with the Mining trait turns a long mining session into a quick stop. Digtoise is the standout pick. It tears through ore and sulfur nodes much faster than a pickaxe, which is itself faster than punching rocks with your bare fists. Possible, but not recommended.
Hot areas chip away at your health bar through heat damage over time. There are two practical fixes: armor or a coolant companion. The Reindrix is the usual partner choice. Capture one, craft its saddle, and its partner skill blocks burn damage while you ride.
For gear, the relevant heat-resistant pieces and their base recipes are:
Upgraded variants of each armor demand more of the same materials, so factor in extra Flame Organs before heading out to hunt.

The headline use is Gunpowder. Combine 1x Sulfur with 2x Charcoal at the High Quality Workbench, Production Assembly Line, or Production Assembly Line II to produce it. That single intermediate is the foundation for every firearm in the game.
Once Gunpowder is stacked, here is what it crafts into:
Sulfur also feeds higher tier crafting and the medical line:
The mining and expedition research tracks burn through Sulfur in bulk:
If you plan to push deep into the late game tech tree, stockpile Sulfur well before you need it. Two hundred lumps for a single research node is not the kind of total you want to start gathering at the last minute.
