If you are chasing a complete fish collection in Valheim, the Tetra is one of those small specimens that can stall a run for days. The catch itself is straightforward once you arrive at the right spot, but getting there is anything but obvious.

The Tetra spawns exclusively inside Frost Caves in the Mountain biome, and only when the cave holds a pool of standing water. Frost Caves arrived with the Mistlands update, so any old save that has not been revisited will likely need a fresh round of exploration before a suitable cave appears.
Plenty of seeds bury dozens of Frost Caves across the map, but most of them are bone dry. You are hunting for the specific subset that contains a freshwater pool. If your current seed seems hostile, regenerating a new world purely to scout for a friendlier Frost Cave is a legitimate strategy, and faster than most players assume.
Standard worms will not work here. Tetras only bite on Cold Fishing Bait, crafted at a Cauldron from:
If you do not have a Cauldron yet, build one at the Forge with 10x Tin. Fenring Trophies drop from the upgraded wolf variant that prowls the Mountains at night, so plan that hunt before heading to the cave.
Each cast burns one bait. Spamming the line in a Frost Cave that does not actually host Tetras will drain your stack and leave you with empty pockets, so confirm spawns before settling in for a long fishing session.
Right now, the Tetra Fish has two practical uses: a cooking ingredient and a decorative piece for your hall. The third use, and probably the real reason you are reading this, is the Fishing Hat.
The Fishing Hat grants a +20 Fishing Skill bonus, but it only unlocks after you catch every fish in the game. The full checklist:
Check the Tetra off the list and you are one step closer to the most pointlessly stylish helmet in Valheim.
