Crafting the Horn of Celebration in Valheim: Recipe and Setup

Valheim·January 2, 2026·6 min read

Toasting to another night survived in the Tenth World is a tradition every Viking should keep. If you plan to clink mugs after your next dragon kill, the Horn of Celebration is the showiest tankard in the game. Below is how to put one together, what it costs, and what to actually expect from it once it sits in your hotbar.

What the Horn of Celebration Actually Does

Before you start farming materials, set your expectations. The Horn of Celebration grants no stat buff, no special effect, and no hidden bonus. It is an ornate tankard that holds mead. That is the entire feature list.

So why bother? The horn was added to mark Valheim's first anniversary, and its purpose is purely cosmetic. If your character has cleared bosses, built a longhouse, and survived a few too many troll ambushes, treating them to a flashy drinking horn feels appropriate. Function over form is great, except when you want a little form.

Unlocking the Recipe

The recipe unlocks the moment you stand near a Workbench. No quest, no rare drop, no boss trophy. Walk up, open the crafting menu, and the entry shows up in your list of available items.

Materials Required

At the Workbench, you will need:

  • Bronze x2
  • Iron x2
  • Troll Hide x2

None of these are early-game scraps. Bronze means you have already worked copper and tin, iron pushes you into the Swamp biome with all the pleasantries that involves, and troll hide comes from hunting trolls in the Black Forest. In short, you are spending mid-game resources on a glorified mug.

Is it worth it? That depends on how seriously you take your Viking aesthetic. The cost is far from crippling for any player past the Bronze Age, and every material is renewable.

Putting It to Use

After crafting, drag the horn into any hotbar slot and fill it with the mead of your choice. Several meads carry stamina or health regeneration effects, which makes the horn useful well beyond its decorative role. Take it on raids, sip during builds, or save it for the post-boss group screenshot.

The Horn of Celebration will not save your run, but it will absolutely upgrade the next toast around the longfire.
