Valheim's progression loop revolves around bosses. Each one is summoned through a specific ritual, and beating it unlocks the next tier of gear and crafting. First on the list is Eikthyr, a giant antlered stag that throws lightning around and will flatten anyone who walks in unprepared.
This guide covers the summoning ritual, the fight mechanics, and what you walk away with.
The altar needs 2 Deer Trophies to activate. They drop from regular deer roaming the Meadows, but the drop rate is not guaranteed. Plan on killing five or six deer before you have enough.
A few hunting notes:
Cook your venison while you are at it. Stamina food matters more than damage food in the actual boss fight.
When you spawn into a fresh world, a glowing rune stone near your starting area pins Eikthyr's altar on your map. Walk over and interact with the stone if you have not already. The altar itself is a stone circle with a sacrificial bowl in the middle.
Drop your two trophies into the bowl, press Summon, and Eikthyr materializes.

Eikthyr is the easiest boss in the game on paper, but a careless player will still get folded. He has three attacks:
Bring a bow and as many flint arrows as you can carry. Stay at medium range, keep moving, and chip his health down between his telegraphs. On a multiplayer Valheim server, one player can hold him in melee while the other plays archer from behind. That setup ends the fight in under a minute.
A wooden shield can block the lightning bolt instead of dodging it, but stamina drains fast and mobility is almost always the better answer.
When Eikthyr drops, he leaves Hard Antlers and the Forsaken trophy behind.
The pickaxe is the real prize. It opens up smelting, the Harvester, and by extension farming. Meadows industrialization starts the moment those antlers hit your inventory.
