Pushing into Valheim's late game without proper armor is a quick way to learn how Seekers chew through cloth. The Carapace set fixes that, packing strong defense for raids on Mistlands bosses. This guide breaks down the recipes, materials and combat stats so you know exactly what you are signing up for.

You will need access to the Mistlands biome before any crafting can begin, since nearly every ingredient comes from that fog-covered nightmare. More details on the biome's role live in the official update notes.
The full set is built from three pieces, each with its own list of demands:
Carapace itself drops from Seekers and Seeker Soldiers, both common targets in the Mistlands. Those same Seeker Soldiers also hand over Mandibles, so a single farming run can cover most of the helmet's ingredient list at once. Hares, the jittery prey skittering through the biome, deliver the Scale Hides every piece requires.
Refined Eitr is a longer process. Combine Sap and Soft Tissue at an Eitr Refinery, a workstation crafted from the Workbench using 20x Black Marble, 5x Black Metal, 10x Yggdrasil Wood, 5x Black Core, and 3x Sap.
Iron is the only old-world material on the list. Smelt Iron Ore or Scrap Iron at a Smelter, itself built from the Workbench with 20x Stone and 5x Surtling Core.

Wearing all three pieces together produces:
Numbers wise, the Carapace set matches a fully upgraded Padded Armor, with one catch: Padded gear holds up better in terms of durability. Even so, this remains one of the strongest defensive options in the game and clearly outpaces the Fenris Armor when raw protection matters more than mobility.
That makes the Carapace set a solid pick if you plan to brawl with the Queen or any other Mistlands threat that hits like a truck.
