Best V Rising Armor Sets Ranked by Progression and Crafting Cost

V Rising·June 28, 2023·26 min read

V Rising starts a new vampire with little more than rags, sharp teeth, and optimism that may not survive the first wolf pack. Armor quickly becomes one of the most important parts of progression, raising gear level, health, and later movement or attack speed.

The best armor set depends on where the character is in the campaign and what materials are available. This ranking follows normal progression, from starter gear to late-game equipment.

V Rising Armor Sets Ranked

8. Boneguard Armor

Boneguard is the first armor set most players craft during the tutorial. It is impossible to miss and useful only because the alternative is being a very fragile vampire.

Stats

  • Gear Level: 1
  • Max Health Increase: +56.7
  • Durability: 347

Crafting Requirements

  • Boneguard Chestguard: 30x Bone
  • Boneguard Leggings: 30x Bone
  • Boneguard Boots: 20x Bone and 30x Rugged Hide
  • Boneguard Gloves: 30x Bone and 30x Rugged Hide

7. Plated Boneguard Armor

Plated Boneguard upgrades the starter set after the Simple Workbench is unlocked. The stat gain is modest, but it gives enough durability and health to handle early enemies more safely.

Stats

  • Gear Level: 2

  • Physical Power Increase: +2
  • Durability: 406

Crafting Requirements

6. Nightstalker Armor

Nightstalker recipes also become available through the Simple Workbench. This set drops the physical power bonus from Plated Boneguard but improves maximum health, making it a stronger general survival option.

Crafting Requirements

  • Nightstalker Vest: 6x Leather and 4x Coarse Thread

  • Nightstalker Gloves: 6x Leather and 4x Coarse Thread

5. Merciless Nightstalker Armor

Merciless Nightstalker is the upgraded version of Nightstalker and a strong early-to-mid game set. Wearing two pieces adds physical power, while four pieces increase gear level.

This set is helpful for hunting early V Blood bosses such as the Alpha Wolf and Errol the Stonebreaker. It requires Copper Ore refined into Copper Ingots at a Furnace, so gathering and refining become part of the upgrade path.

Stats

  • Gear Level: 4, plus 1 when wearing four pieces
  • Max Health Increase: +138.9, plus 12 max health when wearing two pieces
  • Physical Power Increase: +2
  • Durability: 490

Crafting Requirements

  • Merciless Nightstalker Vest: Nightstalker Vest, 4x Leather, 4x Coarse Thread, and 8x Copper Ingot
  • Merciless Nightstalker Leggings: Nightstalker Leggings, 4x Leather, 4x Coarse Thread, and 8x Copper Ingot

  • Merciless Nightstalker Gloves: Nightstalker Gloves, 4x Leather, 4x Coarse Thread, and 8x Copper Ingot

4. Hollowfang Armor

Hollowfang is the next major gear level jump after Merciless Nightstalker. To unlock the materials needed for it, defeat Beatrice the Tailor in Dawnbreak Village. Beatrice herself is not dangerous, but the village guards are happy to compensate.

Defeating Beatrice unlocks the Loom, which enables the materials used for Hollowfang pieces.

Stats

  • Gear Level: 5
  • Max Health Increase: +162.1
  • Durability: 742

Crafting Requirements

  • Hollowfang Chestguard: 12x Cotton Yarn and 8x Wool Thread
  • Hollowfang Leggings: 12x Cotton Yarn and 8x Wool Thread
  • Hollowfang Boots: 12x Cotton Yarn and 8x Wool Thread
  • Hollowfang Gloves: 12x Cotton Yarn and 8x Wool Thread

3. Merciless Hollowfang Armor

Merciless Hollowfang improves Hollowfang without requiring a leap as awkward as the earlier Nightstalker upgrade. By this stage, the Tailoring Bench should already be available.

The set adds movement speed and attack speed bonuses when enough pieces are worn, making it a meaningful upgrade for both combat and travel.

Stats

  • Gear Level: 6, plus 1 when wearing four pieces
  • Max Health Increase: +203.6
  • Movement Speed Increase: +4% when wearing two pieces
  • Attack Speed Increase: +4% when wearing two pieces
  • Durability: 914

  • Merciless Hollowfang Boots: Hollowfang Boots and 12x Iron Ingot
  • Merciless Hollowfang Gloves: Hollowfang Gloves and 12x Iron Ingot

2. Dawnthorn Armor

Dawnthorn is a late-game armor set unlocked after defeating Octavian the Militia Captain, a level 57 V Blood boss at the Bastion of Dunley. After that, materials become the next obstacle.

Pristine Leather and Silk are required. Mutant Grease can be gathered in Gloomrot, while Silk comes from the Spider Cave. Once the materials are ready, craft the pieces at the Tailoring Bench.

Stats

  • Gear Level: 7
  • Max Health Increase: +251.8
  • Durability: 1,119

Crafting Requirements

  • Dawnthorn Chestguard: 12x Pristine Leather and 12x Silk
  • Dawnthorn Leggings: 12x Pristine Leather and 12x Silk
  • Dawnthorn Boots: 12x Pristine Leather and 12x Silk
  • Dawnthorn Gloves: 12x Pristine Leather and 12x Silk

1. Bloodmoon Armor

Bloodmoon is one of the best armor sets in V Rising without using spawn item console commands. Unlike many earlier sets, its recipes are not unlocked all at once by defeating a single boss. Each component recipe must be researched at the Athenaeum.

Recipes can also be bought from the City Book Vendor for 20x Goldsun Coin each. Carrying Goldsun Coins causes Silver Sickness, so plan the trip carefully unless slowly melting sounds convenient.

Crafting the full Bloodmoon set at the Tailoring Bench grants excellent health, movement speed, attack speed, and gear level bonuses.

Stats

  • Gear Level: 8, plus 1 when wearing four pieces
  • Max Health Increase: +306.6
  • Movement Speed Increase: +6% when wearing two pieces
  • Attack Speed Increase: +6% when wearing four pieces
  • Durability: 1,359

Crafting Requirements

  • Bloodmoon Chestguard: Dawnthorn Chestguard, 12x Ghost Yarn, and 1x Primal Blood Essence
  • Bloodmoon Leggings: Dawnthorn Leggings, 12x Ghost Yarn, and 1x Primal Blood Essence
  • Bloodmoon Boots: Bloodmoon Boots, 12x Ghost Yarn, and 1x Primal Blood Essence
  • Bloodmoon Gloves: Bloodmoon Gloves, 12x Ghost Yarn, and 1x Primal Blood Essence
