Update Minecraft Bedrock on PC Manually

Minecraft Bedrock·November 10, 2025·7 min read

Minecraft Bedrock Edition normally updates by itself when opened on PC. When it does not, the fix is usually a manual check through the Minecraft Launcher or Microsoft Store. If neither shows an update, the release may simply not be available for your device yet.

Check for Updates in the Minecraft Launcher

Start with the Minecraft Launcher, since it is the most direct place to check.

  1. Open the Minecraft Launcher.
  2. Select Minecraft Bedrock Edition from the left sidebar.
  3. Open the installation tab at the top of the screen.
  4. Click Check for Updates.

After clicking the button, the launcher should show that it is checking for available updates. This usually takes only a few seconds. The check can only be used once per hour, so do not be surprised if the button makes you wait after one attempt.

If an update is found, the launcher will notify you.

Force the Update Through Microsoft Store

The next option is the Microsoft Store. The exact layout may vary depending on your version of Windows, but this applies to Windows 10 and newer.

  1. Open the Microsoft Store.
  2. Select Library on the left sidebar. Windows 11 users may see an updates tab instead.
  3. Find Minecraft for Windows in the list.
  4. Click Update if the button appears.

If Minecraft is already current, the button beside Minecraft for Windows will usually say Open instead of Update. The update button only appears when a pending update is available.

If No Update Appears Yet

If both the launcher and Microsoft Store show nothing, the update may not have reached your PC yet. Mojang often does not provide exact release times, so update availability can feel a little random.

Wait around thirty minutes to an hour, then check again. In many cases, the update appears once the rollout catches up.
