Unturned Patch 3.23.10.0 Explained: Inside the Buak Update

Nine years after Unturned 2.0 first hit Steam Early Access, Smartly Dressed Games is still shipping content for it. The latest drop, patch 3.23.10.0, ships under a friendlier name: the Buak update. Here is what is actually inside it.

The centerpiece of the 3.23.10.0 release is a new map called Buak, a sizable island dotted with quiet mountain towns. Quiet is doing a lot of work in that sentence. The deeper you dig into those towns, the more secrets and unpleasant surprises you find, and the local wildlife is not happy to see you either.

That said, Buak is also packed with loot, both familiar gear and fresh items meant to keep you alive a little longer than the wildlife would prefer. If you want a quick preview, the official trailer is here.

Patch Notes Rundown

Four New Achievements

The update pushes Unturned's Steam achievement count up to 72 by adding four new ones tied to Buak:

• Do You Like Waffles: experiment with waffles on Buak.
• A Day in the Sun: find someone enjoying themselves on Buak.
• False Promises: dig into Buak's past.
• Anomaly-7: complete a quest from an NPC named Amber.

The description for Anomaly-7 is just "???", so expect a bit of mystery on that one.

Craftable Cosmetics

Buak ships with a batch of new cosmetic items you can craft yourself, including shirts, caps, and scarves. Once crafted, they stay in your inventory permanently. The catch: the crafting recipes are only available for two weeks after launch, so if you want them, do not wait.

Three purchasable bundles are also rolling out for players chasing rare cosmetics.

Fixes and Tweaks

The patch also cleans up a few rough edges in the base game:

• Zombies with several special attacks now randomize their attack patterns more convincingly.
• The Germany civilian ammo loot table no longer spawns 1911 magazines where Ace magazines should appear.
• The `/reload` command no longer fails on vanilla assets due to legacy item IDs.

Not every update needs to reinvent the formula. The Buak patch leans into what Unturned already does well: new ground to explore, fresh loot to chase, and a steady stream of small fixes that keep older mechanics from feeling crusty.
