How to Turn On Cheats for Your Unturned Server

Survival mode in Unturned can lose its spark after enough hours of scavenging canned beans. If you would rather spawn a truck, hand yourself a backpack, or test loadouts without the slow grind, the game ships with a full set of cheat commands ready to go. They just need to be unlocked first. This walkthrough covers the configuration step that flips them on for your server.

Edit the Commands File

1. Open the HolyHosting control panel and stop your Unturned server.
2. Click Config Files in the left side menu.

1. On a new empty line, type: `Cheats Enabled`
2. Save the file and confirm the restart prompt when it appears.

The server will come back online with cheats active.

Make Yourself an Admin

Cheats being enabled and being allowed to use them are two different things. If commands silently fail in game, your Steam account most likely is not registered as an owner on the server.

1. Visit steamid.io and search for your Steam profile.
2. Copy the SteamID64 value from the results.
3. Open Commands.dat again.
4. On a new line, add: `owner XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX` (replace the X's with your SteamID64).
5. Save the file and restart the server.

Troubleshooting

Commands run, but cheats do nothing. This almost always means the `Cheats Enabled` line never made it into Commands.dat, or it was typed with the wrong casing. Reopen the file, confirm the line is present exactly as written, save, then restart again.

Nothing happens at all. Double check that you actually saved the file before restarting, and that the server fully booted before you tried the command in chat.
