The blocky sandbox has a quiet horror side. A handful of modders have spent years building entities, mechanics and atmosphere that turn cheerful survival worlds into something closer to a slow-burn horror movie. The five mods below cover the spectrum, from new monsters that ruin a mining trip to creatures that politely knock on the door and expect to be let in.

The SCP Foundation has spent over a decade producing some of the most recognizable monsters on the internet, and **SCP: Overtime* by Gus brings a growing roster of them into Minecraft form. Each patch adds fresh anomalies to contain, and by contain, the realistic outcome is usually run*. Fans of the Foundation lore will find plenty of familiar threats waiting to ruin a peaceful night.

**Apollyon** by GamerCraftZ adds a single creature, and one turns out to be more than enough. It sits in the distance, watching, and the moment a player makes eye contact, it smiles and starts chasing. The first encounter carries most of the impact, so going in without spoilers is the way to play it.
**The Knocker** by M_Productions adds a mob that delivers exactly what its name promises. It follows the player home, waits outside, and starts tapping on the door asking to come in. The mod turns the most mundane parts of a base into stress points: windows, door sounds, and the safety of being indoors. Letting it in is a mistake. Most players learn that one quickly.
Those random cave sounds that have haunted the game since the early versions finally get a culprit. **Cave Dweller Reimagined** by Idk_someguy introduces a tall, fast entity that stalks players through tunnels and ravines. Mining, normally the most relaxing routine in the game, becomes a calculated risk. The audio cues alone are enough to send most players sprinting back to the surface empty-handed.

The top spot goes to **From the Fog** by LunarEclipseStudios. Instead of chasing on sight, this version of Herobrine builds dread slowly. Carved tree faces in the distance. Tunnels dug overnight under the base. Brief glimpses through fog that may or may not have been real. By the time something obvious happens, paranoia has already done most of the work. The mod treats Herobrine the way the original creepypastas always implied he should be treated: as a presence, not a boss fight.
