Silver is one of those resources that pays off the deeper you dig. Find enough of it in Space Engineers and you unlock everything from medical kits to advanced weaponry. The catch is that the ore blends in with regular rock, so you need to know exactly what you are looking for.
This guide covers what Silver Ore looks like, where it spawns, and the components you can build once you have refined it.

Silver in Space Engineers comes in two forms: ore and ingot. You mine the ore from natural deposits and then run it through a Refinery to get the ingot, which is what crafting recipes actually consume.
Visually, the ore has a light-gray tint that is easy to overlook. Platinum looks similar and trips up a lot of new players, but Silver tends to have a rougher, grainier texture. If you are unsure, mine a small sample and check your inventory before tearing apart half an asteroid for nothing.
You can find Silver Ore deposits on asteroids, moons, and planets. The trick is that it rarely sits on the surface. Expect to drill several meters down before hitting a vein.
A few practical tips:
The conversion ratio is straightforward: 10 Silver Ore = 1 Silver Ingot in a standard Refinery. Stack up a few hundred ore before processing so the Refinery does not sit idle waiting on small batches.
Silver feeds into a range of components and tools at the Assembler. The main recipes are:
If you plan to run a server with friends, an active Refinery and a stocked Assembler will keep your Silver pipeline moving and your fleet ready for whatever you decide to build next.
