Space Engineers 2 Reveal: Livestream Schedule and First Look at Gameplay

Space Engineers·December 17, 2024·6 min read

The original Space Engineers landed on Steam in 2019 and quickly turned into a sandbox favorite for anyone who enjoys welding spaceships together at 3am. Now its sequel is finally about to step out from behind the curtain. Here is everything Keen Software House has confirmed so far, plus when and where to watch the full reveal.

When the Space Engineers 2 Livestream Goes Live

Keen Software House has scheduled the reveal broadcast for Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 6pm UTC. Here are the equivalents across the most common time zones:

  • 10am PST
  • 11am MST
  • 12pm CST
  • 1pm EST
  • 6pm GMT

You can tune in through the studio's official Twitch channel or its YouTube page. Both feeds will run the broadcast in parallel.

What the Reveal Will Probably Cover

Keen has not published a full agenda, but a release date is the most-requested item on everyone's list. Beyond that, expect a deeper look at the engine, the building systems, and how the sequel plans to set itself apart from its predecessor.

Two short teasers and a longer gameplay snippet are already live on the developer's YouTube channel. The footage points to a clear jump in visual quality and shows three construction features worth noting:

  • Blueprint Snapping for clean alignment when placing structures
  • Partial Copying so you can lift only the section of a build you need
  • Instant Undo for the inevitable moment a beam ends up where it should not

The workflow looks more forgiving without dumbing down what veteran builders can do. Complex stations, outposts, and ships are still on the table, just with fewer rage quits along the way.

Destruction Is Still Half of the Pitch

Building is only one side of the loop. The same teaser confirms that everything you put together can be taken apart with the same level of detail, which tracks with a series that has always rewarded creative explosions. The official tagline, "Creation and Destruction Never Felt This Good", sums up the intent. The full picture arrives with the stream, but the early signs are promising.
