A creature swallowed by time has resurfaced, and it wants a spot on this year's ballot. The first of three candidates in the 2022 Minecraft Mob Vote has been revealed, and it goes by the name of the Sniffer.
The Sniffer is pitched as an ancient mob, presumed extinct and forgotten until now. If players choose to bring it back, its eggs can be recovered from ruined structures hidden deep in the ocean. Picture a calm, dinosaur-like figure that lumbers around the world doing exactly what its name suggests: sniffing.
It will sniff at flowers, sniff at players, and, most importantly, sniff out ancient seeds that grow into brand new flower species. Since the announcement dropped, sharp-eyed fans have noticed that those rare overworld bone block formations look suspiciously like a Sniffer skeleton. Which raises a fair question: just how massive did these things used to get?

Voting opens on October 14th at noon EDT and stays open for 24 hours. Ballots can be submitted through the dedicated Bedrock voting server, the Minecraft Launcher, or directly at Minecraft.net. One vote per Microsoft account, so plan accordingly.

Once the polls close, Mojang will announce the winning mob during its annual showcase, Minecraft Live. The stream airs on the official Minecraft YouTube Channel or at Minecraft.net/live, starting October 15th at noon EDT.
Busy that day? A full recap will be posted the same night for anyone catching up later.
The Sniffer is already pulling in fans across social media. Few would have guessed flower-loving dinosaurs would draw such enthusiasm, but the fan art and campaigning are already in full swing. The mob vote is officially underway, and the bar has been set high for the two reveals still to come.
