October on r/Minecraft: Five Posts the Community Could Not Stop Sharing

Minecraft·November 2, 2022·5 min read

With seven million subscribers and a fair number of developers lurking in the comments, r/Minecraft is one of the busier corners of the game's community. Every month it produces builds, tips and announcements that ripple far beyond Reddit. October was no exception, so here are the five posts that pulled in the most attention.

The 1.20 Reveal Lands

The first wave of news about Minecraft 1.20 finally arrived, and the announcement shot to the front page. Reactions started cautious, partly because the trickle-style rollout Mojang has been using takes some getting used to, but the mood warmed up quickly. The Sniffer mob, freshly crowned in the latest community vote, took a victory lap across the subreddit. Congratulations to the new arrival.

Andesite Meets Stone, and Floors Look Better

Builders are still finding new ways to dress up plain blocks. This month /u/RandomBoyInHere posted a tip pairing stone and andesite to create the illusion of missing or worn floor tiles. It is one of those tricks that feels obvious only after someone else shows it to you, which is half the fun of browsing the subreddit.

Mobs and Biomes That Never Made It

Years of mob and biome votes have left a long list of runners-up. A nostalgic thread invited the community to revisit those losers and ask the obvious question: would you change your vote today? Whether you regret a past pick or just want to see what almost made it, the post is a fun walk through Minecraft's recent history.

A Jack-o'-Lantern Build Worth Saving

October would not be complete without a pumpkin entry. /u/Folli_Youtube delivered a sharp jack-o'-lantern build that earned a quick spot on the seasonal must-copy list. A tutorial would be welcome before the next Halloween rolls around.

The Universe, in Cubes

The top spot went to /u/ChrisDaCow, whose Minecraft recreation of the universe broke out of the subreddit and even showed up on mainstream TV. Builds hit Reddit's front page all the time. They rarely land on broadcast news. Worth a click even if you have already seen it twice.

Keep Browsing

October is over, but r/Minecraft has thousands more posts where these came from. The all-time top list alone is enough to lose an evening to.
