The /r/Minecraft subreddit gathers more than seven million players, builders, and the occasional Mojang developer in one place. With that much creativity packed into a single community, December delivered no shortage of posts worth a second look. Here are five from last month that stood out.
Festive themes were not really on display in this one, but it hardly mattered. A massive abandoned cityscape made the rounds, loaded with tiny details and a sense of scale that pulled you in immediately. More than a few commenters admitted they wanted to drop the build straight into their next survival world.
Sometimes the best builds happen outside the game. A simple decorative accessory turned real glass panes into Minecraft windows, complete with a satisfying shadow effect. If you have ever wanted your bedroom to feel a little more blocky, this one is hard to ignore.
Easily the most consequential post of the month. The author of the End Poem announced that starting December 7, 2022, the text is officially released under a Creative Commons public domain license. Anyone can read it, remix it, or reprint it without restriction. Mojang stayed quiet on the matter.
Circles are not supposed to exist in Minecraft. Apparently nobody told /u/binaryrift, who managed to build something close to one using thousands of candles. The shape itself is impressive, but watching the camera glide around its sides produced patterns that almost felt animated.
A fitting closer for the season. Someone built an actual snow golem out in the real world. No word on whether it lobbed snowballs at passing strangers, but anything is possible.

December has wrapped, but /r/Minecraft keeps producing content at a steady clip. Five picks barely scratch the surface. Scrolling the top posts of all time is a reliable way to lose an afternoon.
Until next time,
