Project Zomboid Admin Access

Project Zomboid servers include an administrator account that can use server commands, adjust settings, moderate players, and handle the occasional chaos that only Kentucky can provide. To use it, you need to set the admin username and password in your server panel, then join the server with those credentials.

Set the Admin Login

  1. Open your HolyHosting server panel and log in.
  2. Select your Project Zomboid server.
  3. Go to the server settings section from the panel sidebar.
  1. Find Admin Password and enter the password you want to use for the admin account.
  1. Find Admin Username and enter the admin account name.
  2. Return to the main server page and restart the server so the changes apply.

Avoid starting the username with `admin`. For example, `Admin_Server` may fail, while `Server_Admin` should work. If you want the least annoying option, skip the word `admin` in the username entirely.

Join as the Admin User

  1. Launch Project Zomboid.
  2. Open the server join screen for your server.
  3. In the username field, enter the admin username you configured in the panel.
  1. In the password field, enter the admin password.
  2. Join the server using those credentials.

Once connected, your character should have administrator access. A quick way to confirm it worked is to check for the red Admin text on your nametag.

Give Admin Access to Other Players

To make another trusted player an admin, run this command in-game:

`/setaccesslevel [username] admin`

Replace `[username]` with the exact player username, without brackets. For example:

`/setaccesslevel Morgan admin`

Only give this permission to people you trust. Admin access can change the server, spawn items, moderate users, and cause real damage if handed out carelessly.

Troubleshooting

You are not listed as admin: Check that the username used in-game matches the admin username in your panel settings exactly. If it still does not work, restart the server again so the setting can reload.

Wrong username or password: This usually means the credentials do not match what is saved in the panel. Re-enter both fields carefully, save the settings, restart the server, and try joining again.
