Project Ozone 3 Overview

Vanilla Minecraft has plenty to do, but many players eventually want a pack that adds more progression, stranger worlds, and enough machinery to make a storage room feel underqualified. Project Ozone 3: A New Way Forward is built for that kind of playthrough.

This Minecraft 1.12.2 modpack combines technology, magic, exploration, quests, and skyblock progression. It is the follow-up to the earlier Project Ozone packs and is designed around the Garden of Glass world type, so expect a skyblock-style start with a much bigger endgame waiting behind it.

Project Ozone 3 was created by TheCazadorSniper, with Seyeght and OG_Arist0tle credited as authors. The pack includes a large mod list and can become significantly more difficult depending on the pack mode you choose.

Installing Project Ozone 3 on a Server

  1. Open your HolyHosting server panel.
  2. Find the server version or jar selection area.
  3. Search for `Project Ozone` in the version list.
  1. Select Project Ozone 3 and apply the version change.
  2. Create a new world when prompted. This helps avoid conflicts from old world data.
  3. Restart the server so the modpack can load fully.

A fresh world is strongly recommended for this pack. Project Ozone 3 changes world generation, progression, and dimensions, so reusing a vanilla or unrelated modded world can cause broken terrain, missing blocks, or startup problems.

Installing the Client Modpack

Every player joining the server needs the same modpack installed locally.

  1. Download and install the CurseForge launcher.
  2. Open the launcher and go to Browse Modpacks.
  3. Search for `Project Ozone`.
  4. Choose Project Ozone 3 A New Way Forward.
  5. Click Install and wait for the download to finish.
  6. Go back to My Modpacks and launch the pack.

Once Minecraft opens with Project Ozone 3 loaded, connect to your server as normal.

Major Mods in Project Ozone 3

Pam's HarvestCraft

Pam's HarvestCraft adds a huge collection of crops, foods, trees, and cooking options. It also changes the usefulness of many vanilla foods, encouraging players to build a real food system instead of living forever on plain steak like a culinary tragedy.

Botania

Botania blends magic and technology through flowers, mana, and crafted devices. It adds more than 100 blocks and items, with systems for automation, tools, movement, combat, and resource generation.

To begin, open the Lexica Botania book from your inventory. If it is lost, craft another using a book and any sapling.

Better Questing

Better Questing provides the pack's structured progression. Project Ozone 3 includes more than 1,000 premade quests, giving players goals, rewards, and a path through the pack's many systems.

Use the Better Questing item to open the quest menu, browse chapters, claim rewards, and track what comes next.

Tinkers' Construct

Tinkers' Construct lets you build tools and weapons from individual parts. Materials affect stats, modifiers, durability, and special traits, so equipment can be tuned instead of simply replaced.

Start with the Materials and You handbook included in your inventory. It explains tool stations, part building, smelting, and upgrades.

Iron Chests

Project Ozone 3 creates a lot of items, and standard chests fill up quickly. Iron Chests adds upgraded storage blocks that hold far more than vanilla chests while still occupying one block.

A basic example is surrounding a wooden chest with iron ingots to create an iron chest. From there, higher tiers use better materials such as gold and diamond.

OpenComputers

OpenComputers adds programmable computers, robots, and automation tools. With the right components and Lua scripts, these machines can mine, build, monitor systems, and perform repeated tasks automatically.

It is one of the more technical mods in the pack, but it can be extremely powerful once connected to other systems.

Applied Energistics 2

Applied Energistics 2 focuses on digital storage, item networks, autocrafting, and energy-based logistics. In a pack with this many materials, AE2 becomes one of the cleanest ways to organize late-game resources.

Early progress usually involves collecting Nether quartz and Certus quartz, then building toward storage cells, terminals, cables, and crafting networks.

Twilight Forest

The Twilight Forest adds a separate dimension packed with forests, dungeons, bosses, and progression-based exploration. In Project Ozone 3, it offers a large side adventure with useful rewards and plenty of danger.

Accessing the dimension requires a flower-bordered water portal and a glimmer crystal instead of the usual diamond.

Notable Dimensions

The Erebus

The Erebus is a dark, insect-filled dimension with hostile arthropods, underground spaces, and a much harsher survival curve. Bring strong gear and plenty of torches before entering.

The Twilight Forest

This dimension is covered in dense forest, hedge mazes, ruins, flowers, bosses, and unusual mobs. It is one of the best exploration areas in the pack and can keep a group busy for hours.

NetherEX

NetherEX expands the Nether with new biomes, enemies, hazards, and resources. It makes an already unfriendly dimension even less interested in your comfort, so carry light sources and mark your path.

Galacticraft Planets

Galacticraft adds rockets, space travel, planets, moons, and off-world bases. As your technology improves, you can travel farther, explore new environments, and build beyond the Overworld.

Pack Modes and Difficulty

Project Ozone 3 can be adjusted with the `/packmode` command on the server. Different modes change recipes and progression, making the pack easier or much more demanding.

If you are hosting for a group, choose the mode before everyone gets invested in a world. Changing difficulty after major progress can affect crafting paths and create confusion.

Common Issues

I get an error when joining the server

This usually means the client does not match the server. Make sure the official Project Ozone 3 modpack is installed through CurseForge and that the version matches the server.

My server is stuck while loading

This can happen when mods are removed from an existing world. If the server console asks for confirmation, enter `/fml confirm` to continue loading with missing mod data removed.

Only use this when you understand the risk. Removing mods from a world can delete blocks, items, entities, or progression data tied to those mods.

Modded items appear in creative but do not generate in the world

If items exist in menus but ores, structures, or other modded content are missing from the world, the server may not have loaded the modpack correctly or the world was generated before the pack was installed.

Confirm the server is running Project Ozone 3, restart it, and consider generating a new world if world generation content is missing.

Final Notes

Project Ozone 3 is a large skyblock-focused modpack with quests, magic, machines, dimensions, and long-term goals. Between Better Questing, Tinkers' Construct, Applied Energistics 2, Twilight Forest, Galacticraft, and the other included mods, it gives players a lot of ways to progress.

For the smoothest start, install the same pack version on the server and every client, begin with a new Garden of Glass world, and pick your pack mode before the first serious play session.
