Project Overpowered Skyblock Server Setup Guide

Minecraft·May 20, 2026·14 min read

Project Overpowered Skyblock turns the classic Minecraft island challenge into a bigger Forge 1.12.2 progression pack. You still begin with a tiny island, a tree, and very little dignity, but the modpack quickly opens into quests, machines, custom items, new dimensions, and EMC-based progression.

Instead of simply surviving on dirt and optimism, players can grow the island into a full base with factories, crafting stations, and resource systems. Running it on a server is a good fit for co-op groups, since everyone can split tasks between questing, building, mining, and automation.

Host a Project Overpowered Skyblock Server

If you already have a Minecraft server with HolyHosting, installing the pack is handled from the server panel. Make sure the server is stopped before changing the game file or modpack version.

  • Open the HolyHosting server panel and find the game file or modpack installer section.
  • Search for `Project Overpowered - Skyblock`.
  • Select the modpack, confirm the installer prompts, and allow the files to finish loading.
  • Install the same Project Overpowered Skyblock pack in your CurseForge launcher.
  • Start the server, launch the matching client profile, then join with your server address.

What to Expect In-Game

After joining, the starting island gives you only the essentials. The early game is guided by books in your inventory, including quest information and progression tasks. These menus are important, so do not toss them into a random chest and forget where they went.

The first chapter focuses on basic survival work: gathering wood, crafting tools, making stations, and unlocking the blocks needed to expand. Progression is quest-driven, with rewards and instructions helping you move from a plain skyblock island into a more advanced modded base.

First Resources and Tools

At the start, stone is not mined in the usual way. Shift and right-click grass or dirt blocks to collect pebbles, then combine those pebbles into cobblestone. This is the first reliable route to stone materials in Project Overpowered Skyblock.

Use that cobblestone to widen the island and create separate spaces for crafting, storage, and machines. A little organization early on prevents the usual skyblock problem where every important block ends up two steps from the void.

Reaching the Mining Dimension

Once the required early quests are complete, players can unlock the Mining Dimension. This area provides access to resources that the starting island does not naturally offer, including iron, gold, redstone, diamond, flint, and other useful blocks.

Tinkers' Construct tools are strongly preferred here. They are more flexible than standard tools and can be repaired or upgraded as you continue gathering materials. For a multiplayer server, the Mining Dimension is also a practical place to divide work between ore collection and base construction.

Transmutation Table Progression

The Transmutation Table becomes a major requirement near the end of the first chapter. It belongs to the ProjectE mod and works with EMC, allowing items and stored value to support later progression.

To complete the first chapter, players need to reach a 50,000 EMC requirement. That means feeding useful materials into the system and paying attention to quest instructions. Later chapters build on this mechanic with more advanced items, recipes, and blocks, so learning it early saves confusion later.

Using the SBC Shop

Project Overpowered Skyblock also includes an SBC shop connected to quest progress. SBC currency is earned from completing tasks, then spent through the quest menu near the bottom of the chapter list.

The shop can provide randomized mob spawn eggs, enchantments, blocks, and other helpful items. These rewards can speed up progression, especially when a group is trying to push into automation or recover from a bad resource shortage.

Playing With Friends

A Project Overpowered Skyblock server gives each player a useful job. One person can manage quests, another can build platforms, another can mine resources, and another can spend thirty minutes reorganizing storage because someone put diamonds beside saplings.

The pack supports both focused progression and slower island building. Follow the quest book for the intended route, expand carefully, and use the Mining Dimension, Transmutation Table, and SBC shop to turn a tiny start into a serious modded skyblock base.
