Between catching critters and stacking up bases, Palworld hides a real story under all the chaos. Pushing it forward means clearing tower bosses, and the very first one waiting for you is the Zoe and Grizzbolt duo. Here is everything worth knowing before you walk through that door.

Zoe Rayne runs the Rayne Syndicate, a group built around Pal poaching, settlement raids, and oil rig operations. The PIDF, led by Marcus Dryden, exists largely to push back against her crew. Zoe rides into combat on Grizzbolt, her partner Pal, and the two operate as a single unit. Their bond translates into coordinated attacks aimed at anyone in the way, Pal trainers very much included.

The tower sits in Windswept Hills, your starting region, just northwest of Grassy Behemoth Hills. Drop a map marker around coordinates 111, -430 and head straight there. Hard to miss once you are close, since towers are not exactly subtle.

This is the first tower boss most players face, so your toolkit is still thin. Skipping prep is a great way to feed Grizzbolt your character a few times in a row, so it pays to spend an hour gathering materials before knocking on the door.
Start with a shield. The Common Shield unlocks at Level 4 in the Technology Tree for 2 Technology Points. Build it at the Primitive Workbench with:
Next, craft a Bow:
Ranged attacks are clearly the move here. Plinking Grizzbolt from a distance buys you the reaction window you need to dodge his swings instead of eating them.
If you can grind to Level 10 first, the Three Shot Bow is a much bigger jump. It unlocks for 2 Technology Points and fires, as the name suggests, three arrows per shot. Crafting cost is heavier:
Round out the loadout with Cloth Armor, made from 2x Cloth at the Primitive Workbench. Cheap, but it makes the difference between two hits and one.

Grizzbolt is Electric, so Ground Pals are your friends. Early in the game, Gumoss, Rushoar, Fuddler, and Dumud are all reasonable picks. Dumud is the standout. Its Soil Improver Partner Skill boosts your active Ground Pal's attack power, which stacks nicely with the rest of the team's typing.
If you have time, also try to recruit a Pal carrying the Power of Gaia passive. It increases Ground damage and noticeably bumps your DPS in this exact matchup.

A short cutscene plays when you enter the tower. The fight kicks off the second it ends, so do not put your controller down.
Both bosses share one health bar, and Zoe stays mounted on Grizzbolt the entire time. You do not have to split focus between two targets, which is one of the few mercies in this fight.
Two attacks deserve attention.
Thunderfist. Grizzbolt lunges at you three times in a row. The first two follow consistent timing, but the third has a small delay baked in to catch you mid-attack. Hold off on damage until the animation fully ends, then punish.
Homing laser. A targeting reticle appears on your character before this one fires. Unless your dodge timing is surgical, run behind one of the stone pillars in the arena and let the beam eat the rock instead of your face.
A few more habits that help:

Stick with it and the duo eventually folds. The rewards are Character EXP, Pal EXP, and 5x Ancient Technology Points, plus the tower becomes a fast travel point. That last one alone makes the trip worth it.

Before the Version 0.1.5.0 Update, a glitch let players capture the duo by luring PIDF Guards into the tower mid-fight. The presence of the Guards opened a window to land a Pal Sphere on the boss. That door is closed now. Throwing a sphere during the fight does nothing.
The Tides of Terraria update added a different path. Complete three unique missions from Zoe herself and she joins your roster the legitimate way. Slower, but no longer dependent on broken AI behavior.
