Palworld Tides of Terraria Update: Full Patch Notes, Moon Lord Raid, Fishing, and Every New Feature

Palworld·June 25, 2025·28 min read

Palworld has officially crossed paths with Terraria. The Tides of Terraria update is now live, and it stuffs an enormous list of additions into a single patch: a Terraria-themed dungeon, the Moon Lord as a raid boss, a fishing system, three brand new islands, a mission framework, weapon and skill additions, balance reshuffles, and a higher level cap. If you have been waiting for an excuse to load Palworld back up, this is roughly five excuses bundled into one.

Below is a tidy breakdown of what is new, followed by the full patch notes for anyone who wants every detail.

Tides of Terraria: The Big Picture

The headline feature is the Terraria crossover. A new dungeon plants Terraria enemies inside Palworld, drops materials unique to that world, and lets you craft six weapons and seven armor pieces drawn straight from Re-Logic's classic. The Moon Lord also crosses over as a raid boss. Soloing it is technically possible. Surviving it solo is a different matter, so consider rallying a few friends on a dedicated Palworld server before pulling the lever.

Beyond the Terraria content, the update layers in foundational systems that fans have been requesting for months. Fishing lets you craft a rod, bait the line, and reel in new water-type Pals from shimmering shadows on the surface. There is also a salvage system that turns fishing gear into a tool for pulling materials and rare ores from the seabed while riding aquatic Pals.

The new mission system is the other big structural addition. Quests are scattered across the Palpagos Islands, scaling in difficulty as you progress, and a special chain for Zoe lets you recruit the first tower boss as an ally once you have earned her trust.

Other meaningful additions: a single-player arena mode, swimming animations for Pals, five new weapons, balance tweaks across the board, UI quality of life, and a player level cap raised to 65. The complete notes from the official Steam announcement are reproduced below.

Full Patch Notes

Terraria Crossover

  • Terraria Dungeon: a new dungeon packed with Terraria enemies. Gather the materials inside to craft crossover gear.
  • Terraria Equipment: 6 new weapons and 7 new armor pieces lifted from Terraria.
  • Moon Lord Raid: the iconic final boss of Terraria has invaded Palpagos. Team up to bring it down.

Major New Content

  • PS5 Dedicated Servers are now live.

Fishing

Craft a fishing rod and bait, then cast in water tiles where you can see fish shadows. New Pals are waiting on the other end of the line.

Salvage System

Climb onto a water Pal, take your rod out at sea, and pull supplies up from the deep. Salvaged ores can be used to upgrade your weapons.

New Islands

Three fresh biomes have been added: Tropical Islands, Iceberg Island, and Shipwreck Island. Each hosts its own roster of Pals.

Mission System

Look for missions scattered across the Palpagos Islands. Helping the locals earns rewards and pushes the mission difficulty upward as you progress.

Zoe's Special Mission

Finishing Zoe's personal mission chain earns her trust and unlocks her as a recruitable ally.

Pal Trust Mechanic

Spending time with a Pal raises its trust level, which boosts its stats. The weaker the base stats, the bigger the trust bonus, so underdog Pals finally get a fair shot.

Sleep With Your Pals

After a long day of mining, farming, and getting suplexed by raid bosses, you and your Pals can now rest together.

Treasure Maps

Use maps to track down hidden caches and pocket some valuable loot.

Enemy Bases

Rival factions now build their own bases. They are well defended, but if you raid one successfully, you walk out with new faction-specific building blueprints.

Settlement Overhaul

Settlements are larger and feel populated, with plenty of new mission-giving NPCs to talk to. Player level cap has been raised from 60 to 65.

New Buildings

  • Pal Surgery Table: rewrite a Pal's passive skills using implants. You can also change a Pal's gender here.
  • Fishing Pond: a calm spot to fish right at your home base.
  • Hexolite Quartz Mine: yes, it was only a matter of time.
  • Large Incubator: hatch multiple eggs at once.
  • Palbox Control Device: a terminal that gives you access to your Pal Box from anywhere in the base. Very useful for fast Pal swaps during raid encounters.

New Building Set: Clean

A futuristic floor and wall set for anyone tired of the rustic look.

New Mechanic: Turbulence

Keep an eye out for unusual air currents scattered across the map. Jump into one to launch yourself high into the sky.

New Weapons

  • Charge Rifle
  • Energy Shotgun
  • Overheat Rifle
  • Boost Gun
  • Pal Recovery Grenade

The last two are aimed at trainers who prefer supporting their Pals over personally landing every shot.

New Item Types

  • Whistles and Growth Acceleration Bell have been added.

New Food Recipes

More dishes to cook up at your kitchen.

Arena

  • A single-player challenge mode has been added. Climb the ranks against Palpagos' fiercest fighters and trade battle tickets for rewards.
  • You can now set custom rules in the arena, including bans on specific Pals.
  • A public Pal Box sits at the arena entrance for everyone to use.
  • Spectator mode is now available in multiplayer.

Mechanic Adjustments

  • Equipment durability is now a togglable game setting.
  • Assigning a cooling Pal to the flea market slows down food spoilage.
  • Lyleen's ability Bountiful Protection now restores HP for all allies in range.

Balance Adjustments

  • Some previously aggressive enemies are now friendly.
  • Pal skill cooldowns now tick down even when the Pal is not summoned.
  • Mountable Pals had their speed and stamina re-tuned, and slower Pals received a speed bump.
  • The bounty hunter roster has been expanded.
  • With the mission system live, NPC rewards have been rebalanced. To keep things fair, conversation logs with all NPCs have been reset so you can claim rewards again.
  • Pal Condensation is being treated as end-game content. Axel, Marcus, and Victor have been weakened on normal difficulty to reduce reliance on condensation.
  • Several active skills, including Pal Blast, have been buffed.
  • Attribute treasure chests now have higher odds of dropping work aptitude books.

Pals

New Skins

Three celebratory skins have been added based on the results of the first anniversary popularity poll:

  • Crown Chillet
  • Cyber Jetragon
  • Desert King Anubis

You must own the underlying Pal to equip its skin.

Pals Can Now Swim

Swimming animations have been added, and aquatic movement speeds have been tuned.

New Water Skills

  • Geyser Gush
  • Aqua Surge
  • Torrential Blast
  • Hydro Slicer

New Grass Skills

  • Crosswind
  • Reflect Leaf

New Ice Skill

  • Freeze Wall

New Unique Skills

  • Hydro Spin
  • Thalasonic Laser
  • High Breach
  • Lantern Sweep
  • Scorching Lantern Sweep
  • Smoke Jet
  • Trigger Happy
  • Chaotic Spray
  • Konoha Flip
  • Deep Breath
  • Dash Kick
  • Thunderslide

Passive Skills

New passive skills are now in the Pal pool.

UI

  • Easy Bulk Storage lets you dump materials into any nearby chest with a single click.
  • The Pal Condensation UI now automatically selects materials in bulk.
  • You can save and switch between Pal presets directly from the Pal Box UI.
  • Neutral enemies now display green HP bars. Red bars are reserved for hostile or aggressive enemies.

Multiplayer

  • Fixed a bug that broke the option to filter servers by matching version.

World

  • Random dungeons have more pattern variations.
  • Fishing spots, identifiable by fish shadows, have been placed across the world.
  • Salvage points have been seeded at sea.

Achievements

  • Several new achievements have been added.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where Jetragon would jump higher than intended.
  • Many other minor issues have been resolved.

Wrapping Up

Tides of Terraria is a content-heavy patch that pushes Palworld closer to the broader survival sandbox space, with fishing, missions, expanded settlements, and proper raid encounters. Whether you fire it up for the Moon Lord, the new Pals, or just to test the swimming animations, there is plenty to chew on. Good luck out there, and may your fishing rod survive the salvage runs.
