Palworld's Summer 2024 Update: PVP Arena, New Pals, and a Summer Game Fest Tease

Pocketpair's monster-collecting hit Palworld is closing in on its first full year, and the studio is lining up a sizable summer drop to keep trainers logged in. The post-Raid Update slate looks aimed squarely at endgame players who breezed through the main loop and now want something new to do with their squad.

Here's what is confirmed, and what is still rumor, about the next round of content.

A Coliseum For Your Pals: PVP Arrives

The headline feature is a competitive arena currently known as the Pal Arena. Pocketpair previewed the mode in a recent showcase, with two trainers facing off in a coliseum-style stage backed by their best Pals.

Specifics on rules, team sizes, and ranked structure are still thin on the ground. The brief reveal clip suggests something closer to a structured coliseum match than a free-for-all skirmish. Whether matchmaking will be skill-based, casual, or both has not been clarified. A rewards track for arena participation seems likely given how most live-service titles handle PVP, but nothing has been formally announced.

The original reveal moment can be watched here.

A Roster Of Brand-New Creatures

The summer patch will also expand the Paldeck with a batch of unnamed newcomers. Pocketpair has not shared official names yet, but the previews include:

  • A martial-arts frog carrying what appears to be a tick companion
  • A meditating dog in a serene pose
  • An ostrich dressed in fairly elaborate clothing

Designs continue Palworld's tradition of stitching together cute, weird, and slightly off-kilter ideas. The trailer below has the full look:

Expect new abilities, breeding combinations, and another round of community theorycrafting over which Pals are quietly overpowered.

Summer Game Fest 2024 Is The Reveal Window

Pocketpair has not pinned exact release dates yet. The team did confirm via the official Palworld account on X that more "exciting things" and "long-awaited features" are on the way, which lines up with both the arena and the new Pals.

Summer Game Fest 2024 kicks off June 7, but the slot to watch for Palworld fans is the PC Gamer showcase on June 9, where Pocketpair is expected to share concrete details.

Until then, sharpen up your roster. The arena is coming, and your starter Lamballs probably are not ready for it.
