Palworld v0.3.1 Sakurajima Update: New Island, Pals, and Endgame Content

Palworld·June 27, 2024·27 min read

The first major Palworld patch is live. Update v0.3.1, known as the Sakurajima Update, expands the world map, raises the level ceiling, and drops a pile of late-game content for trainers who already wrapped up the original tower run.

What the Sakurajima Update Adds

The headline feature of v0.3.1 (available on Steam and Xbox) is Sakurajima Island, a new region attached to the original map. The island doubles as a fresh exploration zone and the territory of a new hostile faction called The Moonflowers. Your job is to evict them.

Sakurajima is also home to a new roster of Pals, several of which only spawn here. The content is squarely aimed at the late game, so if you started Palworld last weekend, finish the original map first. The new island assumes you can already hold your own.

Endgame trainers get the Oil Rig, a new Stronghold sitting in the ocean. It is a cooperative target built around squads of players coordinating on a Palworld server, with rewards including the new Crude Oil resource. Every existing Tower also gains a hard mode toggle for trainers chasing a tougher fight.

To support all this, the level cap moved from 50 to 55, unlocking another tier of technologies and a higher Pal capture bonus ceiling. New crafting paths open around Plasteel, refined from crude oil and feeding into top-tier gear.

The official trailer covers the highlights:

The full patch list follows. It is long. Maybe grab coffee.
