Palworld: Complete Guide to Recruiting Zoe and Grizzbolt

Long before Version 0.6 dropped, sneaky trainers exploited a glitch to snag Zoe and her Grizzbolt mid tower fight. That loophole was patched quickly, and for a while the duo was off the table entirely. The Tides of Terraria Update finally added a legitimate path: a short questline that ends with Zoe and Grizzbolt joining your team.

Here is the full route.

Beat Zoe at the Rayne Syndicate Tower

The questline only unlocks after you topple Zoe in her boss fight at the Rayne Syndicate Tower in Windswept Hills. Standard tower rules apply, so come stocked with healing items and Pals that hit hard. Once she goes down, her missions become available.

Find Zoe at the Desolate Church

Zoe will not talk to you inside the tower, even though she is right there. Make the short trip northwest to the Desolate Church instead. You will spot her among the ruins along with a Black Marketeer NPC. Speak to her to kick off the three missions.

Mission 1: Catch a Grizzbolt

Your first task is to capture a Grizzbolt and present one to Zoe. If you do not already have this Electric type Pal in your party, head to Wildlife Sanctuary No. 1 in the southwest corner of the map.

The sanctuary has no fast travel point, so bring a Pal that can fly or swim across the water. Pack a paddle if you must.

Grizzbolt is a rare spawn here, which is the annoying part. Defeat or capture the other Pals in the area to push the game into rolling new spawns. Sooner or later a Grizzbolt will appear. Catch it, return to the Desolate Church, summon it next to Zoe, then talk to her again to clear the mission.

Mission 2: Take Down Five Free Pal Alliance Members

Do not confuse Free Pal Alliance fighters with the Pal Syndicate. The Alliance wears white robes and wanders the map in small groups. The fastest place to find them is at one of their camps. A reliable spot sits northeast of the Desolate Church at coordinates 199, -156.

Defeat or capture five of them, head back to Zoe, and grab the next assignment.

Mission 3: Recover Zoe's Tattered Memento

After two missions full of legwork, this one is mercifully simple. Zoe asks for a personal item and marks its location on your map.

Travel northeast from the Desolate Church to the marker.

There you will find a blanket. Pick it up and bring it back. Zoe will thank you, confess her doubts about the syndicate, and officially join your ranks alongside Grizzbolt once the dialogue ends.

Optional: Capture Zoe Herself

Even after recruitment, the Zoe NPC stays put at the Desolate Church. You can attack her, whittle her health down to a critical state, and toss a Pal Sphere. If the catch lands, Zoe joins your roster as her own standalone summon, separate from the Zoe & Grizzbolt duo. Both versions can be deployed at your base without restriction.

How to Get Zoe's Halloween Skin

Once the recruitment quest is wrapped up, speak with Zoe one more time. As part of the Palworld Halloween 2025 update, she will ask you to craft her seasonal outfit. The recipe is light on rare materials: 5x Cloth and 5x Leather. Craft the skin, return to Zoe at the Desolate Church, and the costume is yours.
