Sometimes a Sphere will not get the job done. Palworld leans into ranged weaponry harder than most creature-collection games, and knowing which gun unlocks at which level (and what it actually costs to build) keeps you from grinding the wrong materials at the wrong time.

Guns in Palworld split into two buckets. Standard firearms are crafted at the Weapon Workbench and used by your character directly. Pal weapons unlock through the Tech Tree, get built at the Pal Gear Workbench, and only equip to the specific Pal they were designed for.
The classic example is the Lifmunk submachine gun. It unlocks at Level 11, after which you craft the kit and assign it. You cannot hand that weapon to a Foxparks or any other companion. The gun is glued to the Pal's skill set. Pal saddles like the Rushoar Saddle work the same way and let your mount help farm Paldium Fragments and other ores.
The list below covers only standard firearms. Bows, grenades, and other ranged tools fall outside this scope.

Your first real firearm. Slow, single shot, hits hard for its tier.

A stopgap sidearm before the proper Handgun unlocks a few levels later.

Lower raw damage than the Makeshift, but better fire rate and handling make it the more practical pick.

The first weapon that demands Refined Ingot. Excellent for softening up tough Pals before capture.

Two barrels of close-range pressure, ideal for dungeon corridors.

Higher capacity and faster cycling than the Double Barreled. The Carbon Fiber requirement signals the late-game material curve kicking in.

Low per-bullet damage offset by sustained automatic fire. Best paired with stacked attack buffs and a generous magazine.

End-tier crowd control. Pal Metal Ingot is the gating material, so plan your mining runs accordingly.
