Surviving in Palworld takes more than punching trees and hoping for the best. A steady food pipeline keeps your character fed and your Pals from going cranky, and farming is how you build that pipeline. The system here works a little differently from other survival titles, so it pays to know which piece does what.

Farming is not the same as the Farming work trait you assign to a Pal. It is the broader loop of planting seeds in matching plantations and letting your base crew handle planting, watering, and harvesting on autopilot. Pair the right seed with the right plot, hire some capable workers, and food shows up on its own.

Palworld currently ships with four crops, each tied to its own seed.
Each seed only sprouts on its matching plot. You cannot drop tomato seeds into a wheat patch and hope for the best. Plantations unlock at different Technology Levels and have different material costs.

Unlocks at Technology Level 5. Costs 3x Berry Seeds, 20x Wood, and 20x Stone.

Unlocks at Technology Level 15. Costs 3x Wheat Seeds, 35x Wood, and 35x Stone.

Unlocks at Technology Level 32. Costs 3x Tomato Seeds, 70x Wood, 50x Stone, and 5x Pal Fluids.

Unlocks at Technology Level 38. Costs 3x Lettuce Seeds, 100x Wood, 70x Stone, and 10x Pal Fluids.

Three work traits matter on a productive farm: Planting, Watering, and Gathering. Early on you will catch Pals with Level 1 versions of those traits, which is fine for your first plot. As you push deeper into the map, stronger Pals with higher trait tiers show up and turn the base into a real production line.
Keep a healthy stack of Paldium Fragments around so you never run dry on Pal Spheres. Catching the right workers is half the battle.

According to the official Palworld Discord server, version 0.1.2.0 patched the long-running malfunctioning illegal intrusion bug, which used to send Pals sprinting away from their workstations for no obvious reason. They should now stay where you put them.
Palworld: Palfarm is the upcoming farming-focused spin-off set on the Palpagos Islands. Instead of building militarized bases and brawling with syndicates, you grow crops, raise Pals, and run a slower life sim alongside the human residents. Daily conversations and gifts deepen your bonds with both Pals and townsfolk, while your workers handle the sowing, watering, and harvesting.
It is not all quiet rural living, though. Hostile Pals occasionally raid the farm, and you and your trusted companions have to defend the harvest. Palfarm also ships with full multiplayer support, so you can build farms with friends and write your own stories together.
The announcement trailer below offers a glimpse of the tone the spin-off is going for.
