Palworld Keybinds: Complete PC and Controller Control Reference

Palworld·January 22, 2024·12 min read

Before you can chase down Pals, ambush enemies or sprint away from a bad fight, you need a working map of the inputs. Palworld assigns buttons differently depending on whether you sit at a desk or sink into a couch, so this reference lays out both layouts side by side.

Mapping Every Action in Palworld

Palworld currently ships through Steam and Game Pass, which means two practical control schemes: keyboard with mouse, or a connected gamepad. Both work fine, but each has its own quirks worth knowing before you commit muscle memory.

Keyboard and Mouse Layout

Most PC players land here by default. The defaults are usable, but a few of them are awkward. Roll, for example, sits on Ctrl, which is not a key your finger naturally reaches mid-combat. Rebinding it to something closer to the WASD cluster is a small change that pays off the first time a boss charges at you.

Here is the full default scheme:

  • Move forward: W
  • Move backward: S
  • Strafe left: A
  • Strafe right: D
  • Attack / use equipped item: Left Click
  • Cancel Pal Sphere throw: Right Click
  • Jump: Space
  • Summon Pal / Ride Skill 2: E
  • Throw Pal Sphere: Q
  • Partner Skill: F
  • Crouch / slide / Ride Skill 3: C
  • Reload: R
  • Roll: Ctrl
  • Sprint: Shift
  • Cycle Pal left: 1
  • Cycle Pal right: 3
  • Change Sphere: 2
  • Pal Commands: 4

Gamepad Layout

A controller usually feels more natural for the open-world traversal and the mounted combat, mostly because so many actions get tucked behind triggers and bumpers. One catch: the in-game prompts use Xbox style button names. PlayStation users should mentally translate the labels (A becomes Cross, X becomes Square, and so on) until the layout clicks.

Default gamepad bindings:

  • Movement: Left stick
  • Camera / aim: Right stick
  • Jump: A
  • Summon Pal / Ride Skill 2: Left Bumper
  • Throw Pal Sphere: Right Bumper
  • Partner Skill / Reload: X
  • Roll / crouch / Riding Skill 3: B
  • Sprint: Press Left stick
  • Cycle Pal left: D-pad left
  • Cycle Pal right: D-pad right
  • Change Sphere: D-pad down
  • Pal Commands: Press Right stick
  • Change Weapon: Y
  • Aim: Left Trigger
  • Attack / Riding Skill 1: Right Trigger

Keep this page handy until the bindings turn into muscle memory. After a couple of sessions you will not think about which finger reaches where, and that is when Palworld starts feeling like the game it wants to be.
