Palworld Chromite Farming Guide: Feybreak Mines, Hexolite, and Every Recipe

Chromite is one of the harder finds in Palworld's Feybreak Island, locked behind dark caves and the occasional Alpha Pal that would rather not give it up. You need this ore to push past the standard tech tier and start producing Hexolite, the bottleneck material for late-game weapons, armor, and a handful of utility items.

Locating Chromite on Feybreak Island

Chromite arrived with the Feybreak patch as an island-exclusive material. The catch is that nodes do not appear above ground like other ores. To even see them, you need a Metal Detector, a craftable gadget assembled at the Production Assembly Line II. The recipe asks for 30 Plasteel, 100 Paldium Fragments, 30 Circuit Boards, and 20 Nightstar Sand.

Prefer a four-legged alternative? Capture and deploy Smokie, a Dark Pal whose Partner Skill replicates the Metal Detector. Smokie roams the northern stretches of Feybreak Island, and a single one solves your detection problem permanently. Both tools work best inside caves rather than on the surface, where Chromite spawns are far more common.

Alpha Pal Caves Worth Looting

The four new Alpha Pal locations on Feybreak Island typically host multiple Chromite nodes each, making them efficient farming circuits. Mark these coordinates:

• -961, -981
• -1128, -1298
• -1047, -1201
• -731, 1028

For an alternative source, hunt Silvegis, the new Alpha Pal hidden south of the Shield Dragon Tunnel fast-travel point. You must enter the tunnel itself to trigger the encounter. Capturing or defeating Silvegis drops Chromite alongside the usual Alpha rewards.

Turning Chromite into Hexolite

Chromite by itself does not equip onto anything. Its job is to feed the Feybreak Update endgame loop through Hexolite, smelted at the Gigantic Furnace using 5 Chromite, 12 Hexolite Quartz, and 20 Ore for 1 Hexolite. Hexolite then opens the entire late-tier crafting tree.
