In Palworld, Cake is the gatekeeper of the Breeding Center. No Cake, no eggs. The recipe is also one of the longest in the game, mixing five ingredients that each come from a different farm setup. This guide walks through every shortcut for sourcing those parts, plus the rare drop alternative and what Cake actually does once a Pal bites into one.

There are two ways to get your hands on Cake. The first is the lazy approach: hunt or capture Lovanders and hope they drop one. The drop rate is grim, so plan on burning a few hours before a single slice falls. If you don't want to spend an entire afternoon farming a love-themed Pal, crafting is the smarter route.
The crafting recipe requires:
Combine those at a Cooking Pot or any higher-tier stove, and one Cake comes out. Easy on paper, slightly more tedious in practice.
Red Berries are everywhere. You'll find dense patches across the Plateau of Beginnings, which makes early-game stockpiling painless.
Flour has two routes. Buy it from a Wandering Merchant for 100 Gold per unit, or grow your own Wheat at a Wheat Plantation, then process 3x Wheat at the Mill into 1x Flour. Wheat spoils like any other crop, so toss it in a Cooler Box if you're not milling it right away.
Eggs drop from Chikipis when you defeat or capture them. Wandering Merchants sell them for 50 Gold each if grinding chickens isn't your thing.
Honey comes from a handful of Pals: Warsect, Elizabee, Beegarde, and Cinnamoth. The cleanest setup is parking a Beegarde in your base Ranch and letting it produce passively.
Milk works the same way. Drop a Mozzarina in the Ranch and collect on a timer, or pay the Wandering Merchant 50 Gold per unit if you don't have one captured yet.

Cake works as standard Pal food in a pinch. A single serving carries a nutrition value of 656 and restores 82 SAN for the Pal that eats it. It also keeps longer than most cooked items, lasting 1,200 seconds (20 minutes) before spoiling.
That said, feeding it to a hungry Pal is almost always a waste. The real purpose is the Breeding Center, which simply refuses to produce eggs without Cake in the inventory. Pair the right two Pal parents with a stack of Cake on hand and you can even chase an Alpha Pal hatch.
