Official Minecraft Server List Guide for Players and Owners

Minecraft·November 10, 2023·13 min read

The Official Minecraft Server List gives players a curated place to find public servers and gives server owners another way to reach new communities. It works differently from older third-party lists because Mojang's requirements and review process matter from the start.

What Makes the Official List Different

Before the Official Minecraft Server List, most server discovery happened on third-party websites. Server owners submitted their communities, and players browsed by game mode, version, tags, and other filters.

The official list adds Mojang's curation to that idea. Players can search for servers that are expected to follow Mojang's guidelines, which makes it a more controlled option for families and younger players.

How Players Browse the Official Minecraft Server List

Browsing happens at findmcserver.com. The homepage highlights new servers to discover. If you want more control, open Menu in the top-left corner, then choose Browse All Servers.

That page includes filters for narrowing the list to a server that fits what you want to play. It is the official route for discovery, so server owners should treat the listing as more than just another directory entry.

How to Add a Server to the Official Minecraft Server List

Step 0: Review the Rules First

Before submitting anything, read the required policies. The Official Minecraft Server List has strict rules, and server owners need to make sure their communities comply before applying.

Skipping this step can waste time if the server is not eligible. Rules first, form second.

Step 1: Create an Account

Make an account on the Official Minecraft Server List website. The signup option is found in the dropdown menu at the top-right of the homepage.

After signing in, the same dropdown will show a Server Admin page. Open that page to begin the server submission process.

Step 2: Choose Add Your Server

Inside the Server Admin page, click Add Your Server. A prompt will ask whether you already have a server.

If you do not have one yet, a hosting provider such as HolyHosting can be used to set up a Minecraft server. If the server already exists, select I Have One and continue.

Step 3: Confirm the Server Is Online

The next prompt asks whether your server is online. Turn it on before continuing, because the Official Minecraft Server List will not accept an offline server.

Once the server is running and reachable, select YES.

Step 4: Prepare the Server Details

The submission form asks for several details. Have these ready before starting:

  • Server name
  • Public contact email address
  • Java server IP and port
  • Bedrock server IP and port
  • Server host

If the server is accepted, a polished banner and clear description will also help it stand out to players browsing the list.

Step 5: Stay Active After Listing

Getting listed is not the end of the work. Server owners need to stay responsive, keep the server online, and handle periodic check-ins connected to Mojang and GamerSafer goals.

Servers can also earn badges, which help show potential players that the community is active and responsible.

Why the Official List Matters

A listing on the official site can introduce your server to players who may never browse third-party directories. For owners, the best approach is simple: follow the rules, submit accurate details, keep the server stable, and treat the listing like a front door to the community.
