Minecraft Vibrant Visuals Settings Guide

Minecraft·June 18, 2025·6 min read

Vibrant Visuals brings shader-like lighting and water effects into Minecraft for players who may never have used shaders before. The setting is optional, and it can be turned on or off from the video settings menu.

What Vibrant Visuals Does

Vibrant Visuals was added to Bedrock Edition in Minecraft 1.21.6 Chase the Skies. It is a graphics mode above Fancy that updates select textures, improves water and underwater lighting, and adds dynamic lighting with pixel-accurate shadows.

The feature can be enabled or disabled at any time, including while you are already in a world. That makes it easy to test performance without committing to a full settings overhaul.

Enable Vibrant Visuals

  1. Open Minecraft Bedrock Edition.
  2. Click “Settings.”
  3. Click “Video.”
  4. Scroll to “Graphics Mode.”
  5. Choose “Vibrant Visuals” from the dropdown menu.
  6. Select “Favor Performance” or “Favor Visuals” based on your hardware and preference.
  7. Exit settings and check the changes in-game.

Vibrant Visuals includes two main presets. “Favor Performance” is the safer choice for weaker systems, while “Favor Visuals” pushes the look further for stronger PCs. Try both if you are unsure, since the best option depends on how smoothly your game runs.

If your PC handles “Favor Visuals” well, the graphics can be adjusted further in the Vibrant Visuals options below the dropdown. Settings such as shadow quality and reflections can be tuned there.

Java Edition Availability

Vibrant Visuals is not currently available for Minecraft Java Edition. Mojang has confirmed that it will come to Java Edition later, but no specific release date has been announced.

For now, Bedrock Edition players can use the built-in setting, while Java Edition players will need to wait for the official version to arrive.
