Minecraft already scatters loot through villages, mineshafts, dungeons, and other generated structures, but those rewards can start to feel predictable. Treasure2 changes that loop by adding buried treasure sites, locked chests, keys, charms, jewelry, wells, traps, and hostile surprises. Some treasure is easy to miss, and some treasure would rather bite you first. Fair enough.
Treasure2 is a Forge mod, and it works well for multiplayer servers that want exploration to matter beyond simply raiding the nearest village. Players can uncover new structures, dig beneath markers, collect special keys, open locked containers, and use rare items that improve survival or provide unusual effects.
The sections below explain how to download Treasure2, install it on a client and server, and understand the main mechanics once the mod is active.
Forge 1.12.2 is usually the strongest choice for Treasure2 because that version has the broadest feature set. Other versions may work, but structure generation and available content can vary. If you are building a small modded server for friends, pick the version first, then download every mod around that same version. Mixing files from nearby Minecraft releases is one of the fastest ways to turn a treasure hunt into a crash report.

Install Forge in the Minecraft Launcher before adding Treasure2. The Forge profile must match the same Minecraft version as the mod files.

A server also needs Forge installed before Treasure2 can run. In your hosting panel, select the Forge server type that matches your mod version, then restart once so the server creates its folders. After the first restart, stop the server before uploading mods. This keeps files from being read while they are still being changed and makes the next startup easier to diagnose if something fails.

After joining the world, Treasure2 structures can appear during exploration. You may find stone buildings, wells, graves, underground rooms, or other markers. These are worth investigating because the valuable chests are often hidden below the visible structure. On a server, encourage players to spread out into new chunks after installation, since old explored terrain will not usually regenerate with new Treasure2 features.
Keys are the important part. Many Treasure2 chests are locked, and some have more than one lock. Installing JEI is useful because it makes recipes easier to check in game. The official mod wiki can also help when you need exact details for a specific version.
A good starting item is the Treasure Tool. It is not used to open chests directly, but it is required for some key recipes. Craft it with 1 iron ingot, 1 stick, and 1 stone.

The Thief's Lock Pick is one of the most useful early key items. It can unlock several common chest types and is made with 4 iron nuggets and 1 Treasure Tool. Make a few before going treasure hunting, since finding a locked chest without a key is a very Minecraft-flavored disappointment.
Some Treasure2 sites look like small stone houses or simple generated structures. These may not contain visible chests inside. Instead, they often mark a hidden dig site underneath, so break blocks near the center and search below. If nothing appears right away, widen the dig area a little before giving up. The chest can be offset depending on the structure and terrain shape.

Graves are another common clue. They may be guarded by hostile mobs, so bring armor, weapons, food, and proper tools before digging. If you remove gravestones first, mark the spot with coordinates or a waypoint mod so the underground chest is not lost.
Treasure sites can hide logs, sand, gravel, stone, rooms, enemies, or traps. Bring a shovel, pickaxe, axe, torches, food, and keys before excavating. TNT traps can appear in some layouts, so avoid rushing straight down through every block like confidence is blast resistant.

Some grave sites may reveal a simple one-block shaft, while larger structures can lead into underground rooms. The exact generation depends on the Treasure2 version, so treat every marker as a clue rather than a guaranteed layout.
Treasure2 chests may have one lock or several locks. Different lock types require different keys. For example, a Spider Lock requires a Spider Key, while an Iron Lock needs its matching iron key.
To unlock a chest, hold the correct key and use Shift + right-click on the chest. It may take more than one attempt before a lock breaks. Once all locks are removed, the chest can be opened normally.

Loot can include vanilla items, coins, keys, rings, charms, jewelry, tools, weapons, armor, potions, and other useful materials. Keep unusual items until you understand what they do, because many Treasure2 rewards connect to later systems. A shared storage chest near spawn can help multiplayer groups avoid losing rare keys or charms in random personal chests.
Treasure2 adds rings, necklaces, bracelets, charms, and similar items with special effects. Some may improve regeneration, absorption, lighting, or other player abilities. Mirtha's Torch, for example, can place torches around the player at intervals.

These items are found in chests rather than crafted directly, so exploration is the main way to obtain them.

Two blocks help modify special items: the Jeweler's Bench and the Charming Table. The Jeweler's Bench is used to improve jewelry with specific materials. The Charming Table can work with runestones and combine charms into stronger items. Hover over the blocks and items in game to view more details for your installed version.
Wishing Wells provide another way to turn Treasure2 loot into rewards. Throwing coins into a well can produce random items, ranging from basic materials to rare equipment. Gold coins usually offer the best chance at higher quality rewards.

Treasure2 includes more than 18 chest types, each with different locks and loot chances. A few may not require keys, but most do. Some chests can also be Mimics, hostile creatures that pretend to be normal containers. Approach unfamiliar chests carefully, especially when the area already looks suspicious.
If the server rejects your connection, confirm that Forge, Treasure2, and GottschCore are installed on both your Minecraft client and the server. The Minecraft version must match on both sides. Also check that the files are in the correct `mods` folders and that the server has restarted after upload. If the server console mentions a missing dependency, wrong mod version, or failed class load, replace the affected file with the correct download instead of repeatedly restarting the same broken setup. Persistence is useful, but servers are not impressed by it.
If Treasure2 structures barely appear, the selected mod version may have limited generation support. Forge 1.12.2 commonly provides the best Treasure2 experience. You can also try generating a new world after installation or reviewing the mod configuration files, although configuration options vary by version.
If a locked chest will not open, check the lock type and make sure you are holding the correct key. Use Shift + right-click on the chest with the key equipped. Chests with multiple locks need each lock removed before the container opens.
