Hello! ๐
If you're a Minecraft server owner and you like experimenting with different modpacks, you've probably encountered a very common error when switching between versions or different packs. ๐ค
Imagine you're excited to try a new modpack๐ and, when starting your server, you find the following message in the console:
โThis world was saved with this mod but it is no longer installed. Things may not work well.โ
How annoying! ๐ค But don't worry, we're here to help you understand and fix this problem.
This error occurs because your server is trying to load a world that contains mod elements that are no longer installed. These elements are called phantom entities. ๐ป Even though the mods are no longer there, the entities remain in your world, and this can prevent your server from starting correctly.
Most of the time, you can avoid this problem by simply using the command /fml confirm in the console. This forces the server to acknowledge the problem before loading the world and acts as a protection against possible corruptions.
โ ๏ธNote: This solution is not always definitive, but it's a good first step. ๐ถโโ๏ธ
โCommon Error When Using /fml confirmโ:
If you still have problems after using /fml confirm, it's possible that the phantom entities๐ป are too numerous or complex to be ignored. In this case, you'll need to take more drastic measures.
If the command /fml confirm doesn't work, the only safe solution is to reset your world. This means deleting all the phantom entities and allowing the world to generate again without them.
Steps to Reset Your World:
If you don't want to lose your current world, another option is to revert to the previous versionโฌ ๏ธ of the modpack or mod set that worked with your world. This will restore the missing entities and blocks and allow the server to start correctly.
