Minecraft's 15th anniversary brought plenty of celebration, and an accidental preview on the official Minecraft website pointed toward one especially popular reward: the Creeper Cape. Here is what was known about claiming it, plus how to equip capes once they are on an account.

Capes are cosmetic items that appear alongside a player's skin. Unlike skins, which anyone can change freely, capes are usually tied to limited rewards, special events, or Bedrock Edition store cosmetics.
Java Edition has far fewer cape opportunities than Bedrock Edition, so limited-time rewards are worth claiming quickly. Cape collectors do not get many second chances, and Minecraft is not known for leaving rare cosmetics unattended on the porch.

The Creeper Cape was expected as a limited-time reward for Minecraft's 15th anniversary. Based on the leaked official webpage, both Java Edition and Bedrock Edition players would be able to claim it through a page on the Minecraft website once it became available.
If the leaked page remained accurate, the process would be simple: log in, visit the claim page, and press the large green claim button. The reward was still described as limited-time, so players needed to claim it before the window closed.

To check owned capes or switch the active cape on Java Edition, open the official Minecraft website, sign in, and use the profile settings.
After selecting a cape, it should update on the account shortly.

Bedrock Edition players can change capes directly inside the game client through the Dressing Room.
Once equipped, the cape should appear on the avatar immediately.
