Factorio turns an empty 2D world into a sprawling mess of belts, drills, power lines, and machines that somehow still need more iron. On a dedicated server, multiple players can build together, divide factory jobs, defend the base, or create separate production lines that eventually collide in confusing but useful ways.
To join a Factorio server, you can connect directly with the server address or use the in-game public browser. If the server should appear publicly, the server also needs a Factorio account username and token configured first.
Public Factorio servers require an account token before they can be listed correctly in the browser.

Direct IP connection is usually the fastest method, especially for private servers.

If the server is configured for public listing, it can also be found through Factorio's multiplayer browser.

After joining once, Factorio can quick-join the most recent server from the main menu. That saves a few clicks after restarts or repeat sessions.
Server does not start: A public Factorio server may fail to start if the username or account token is missing or incorrect. Check the customization settings, confirm both fields are filled in, then restart the server from the panel.
Could not establish network communication with server: This usually means the server cannot be reached. Confirm the server is online, then compare the address entered in Factorio with the IP:Port shown in the server panel. A single wrong digit is enough to ruin the trip.
